Oh I HAVE the book-book, but it's kinda hard to show half a world away unless you come to visit me in Melbourne in February... |
eug, what's the quality like on the blurb book? i did viovio for christmas gifts last year for the far flung rellies, and wasn't happy with the image quality on anything that wasn't brightly lit sunny images. i have many dark B/Ws of the kid too...
i've been playing with shutterfly, but blurb looks less pricey, so.
are you happy with them?

I was happy with the quality of Blurb. Less happy with the quality of Lulu. If I do a Blurb book again, I'll be using Lumipix Fotofusion to do the layout. Most places the layout software at best gets a D+. |

the layout software blurb provides, or of different publishers?

The industry in general has poor software. Blurb is one of the better, but it far from ideal. |

so you can upload your ready made pages to their files? i was lookng at asuka books, and that's what they do (for portfolios - way too pricey for family stuff), butman, talk about complicated for them...

Yup. Some people do the layout in PS or PSE, but that is harsh IMO. Fotofusion allows you to create a full bleed image that contains text and images in any format you want. It sucks that to do multipage p[rojects you need Fotofusion Studio which is a couple hundred. I'll do them one page at a time in Pro. |

I wanted to do some small (20 page) books of the graduation of a couple friends children and found York to be really inexpensive. I got the cheapeast version (papercover, 20 pages for $7.99) and must say I was pretty impressed...and they loved them too. I found their online software quick and easy to use. I'd use them again. Maybe not for professional use, but definitely for personal use.
