The reason for asking is of course, that I joined the site late 2006 and as I wanted something in my portfolio I posted pictures from earlier this year - and among them I see possible candidates for a "Best of..." |
Just so you're aware - if someone already saw the photograph and/or commented on it - there may be a voter reaction - good or bad. In your case, probably good. |

I would like this challenge, but 2006 wasn't a good year for me and photography. I sold the 300D early in the year, was without a camera for a couple of months, then got a Fuji 9500. Took very few shots, then got the 30D in September, have taken a hundred or so shots to try various lens etc. Main problem is a lot of my shots have been sharpened etc, with no original left to enter.
I can probably muster one or two tho.
So, let it happen. |

Then you could only enter one of them, and the voting would definitely be easier. How can you put a portrait up against a landscape? Just a suggestion. I know last year this was discussed about breaking it up into categories. Maybe they listened. |
Oooh. I'm likin' that idea! Add me to the list of folks who held back an image or two of significance hoping for a "best of..." |

I hope we see it soon, because I've been thinking about what to enter for months. Since I've had no time to shoot anything else recently, this is all I have.

I was kinda hoping we nixed it this year. Last thing I want to do is go back through all of my photos and find out I don't have a best of anything.

About 3 weeks ago, I removed a picture from my porfolio just for that challenge.... I know that if I put it back, the challenge will come up... it's always like that :)

I'm thinking that they're thinking that we have 6 challenges open for voting at the moment, and maybe that's enough at one time.
Wait until next Monday and 4 of those disappear, and then you can add the best of 2006 challenge. Or wait until next Thursday, to spread out the 3 that would then be in voting.

Could we get a hint of date when the challenge will be posted?
Because if it is on Sunday I will most likely be unable to get something in in time (far, far, far away from a phone or computer) and would like to know if I need to instruct a relative on how to upload my file under my name or to just put it on a CD or floppy and hope to find a computer at some airport..
Any other day of the week would be fine, it's just the Sunday that would be a problem.

It would be *at least* a week submission period, so I think there are no worries for you. It may even be slightly longer for submission, that's a bit up in the air yet. |

Hmm, I don't know that I will be able to find anything I can eneter. Until very recently I uploaded all my photos on to my computer through PS Elements (and earlier through the Canon software that came with the camera) and so the exif data shows all my originals as being processed. Would RAW files exif data show PS? I don't know how to view exif except through processing software! |

Download the wonderful and free Irfanview program. When you want to view EXIF data, you just hit "E" and it comes up for the picture. |

Well, waddayaknow! I've been hitting "I" to open the Info window, and then hitting the EXIF button -- good tip about a good program. : ) |

I am away for 8 days.
So announced on sundaymorning, closes on sundaymorning is a no no.
Saturdaymorning, I submit on saturday.
Mondaymorning (like the normal challenges), I submit Sundayevening when I am back. :)))
To be safe I'll instruct someone how to do it on saturdayevening.
Not that I will win a ribbon. :)

Why are you yelling?
You can use any image that hasn't already been in a challenge. If it's currently in your portfolio you can hide it for the duration of the challenge. |
