OK, so I have gotten my second request for proof.
First time, I was OK.
This time, I think I mixed up something between advanced and expert editing.
In any case, I am running around 4.8 in the score, so it suits me well - for once - with a DQ!
My question is:
If I expect, or even desire, a DQ, should I just let the 48 hours run out, and not do anything, or is the most sensible thing to do to send proof in any case?
If I know I am going to get DQ'd (after realizing my mistake), is it worth bothering at all?
Thanks for answering ...
BTW, if I get DQ'e, I cannot submit for a while, or ... is it only on second offence?

I would think it is always better to send in your photo - maybe you'll pass. If anything you'll find out why. |

From any of the Challenge Rules pages:
"In order to discourage repeated disqualifications and abuse of the disqualification system, the following penalties will apply for repeat disqualifications:
1st DQ in last 25 submissions: No penalty
2nd DQ in last 25 submissions: 1 week suspension of submission privileges
3rd DQ in last 25 submissions: 2 week suspension of submission privileges
4th DQ in last 25 submissions: 4 week suspension of submission privileges and 3 months of required “pre-submission” of proof file.
The above penalties will be assessed only after review by the Site Council. In exceptional circumstances, the Site Council may elect not to apply a penalty. If a user is found to have intentionally violated the Challenge Rules, the above penalties will be in addition to any assessed for the violation itself."

I would just send it in...with an admission of guilt if you already know you were wrong. You never know when you may want the SC to give you the benefit of the doubt and a history of cooperation would only aid you in a situation like that.

If you KNOW you went to far with the editing, self DQ an option?

I don't think so, not after a validation request has been generated.

I believe you are correct. Also, any self-DQ on basis of illegal editing is considered a regular DQ.

Yes, but only if proof has not already been requested. In this case, it's unfortuntaely no longer an option, but as mk pointed out, if we don't receive a proof file in response to a request, we *have* to DQ it, there's no choice, and no potential for future leniency based on cooperation. |

Believe me, they'll see this thread :)
Best just to say "Ooops, I screwed up", let them know, and send them what they ask for so that your history is untainted by trying to hide something.
EDIT: Told ya they'd see it :)

Thank you all for the comments. I am now much wiser!
I had not envisioned to avoid site council. Just I have not done this on purpose, only afterwards was it that I realized that I mistook the new Expert rules for the Advanced rules.
As suggested here, I will submit the proof and the details, even knowing that I most probably will be DQ'ed.
I hope that the this being one of the lowest rated photos will help my case, as I did not have any intention of being DQd or try to cheat!

New rule: Submitteth not after no sleep within last 24 hours, no matter how closeth thy dealine might be.
