Looks like this is gonna hit my top four...probably third, but if it goes up about .02 it will be second...and if a miracle happens, and it goes up about .18 or so, I'll get a PB! How cool would it be to get two PB's in consecutive challenge entries.

Yay! Maybe it will break a 6 before it is all said and done!

		| | | Originally posted by DrAchoo: karma, it's not a matter of the score as much as what I thought it would do. I have, at least personally, a fairly good record of guessing where a shot will end up. However, lately I've been quite wrong. I thought My Occupation score was going to be a 5.5 at best (hell, I was in drag). Score? 6.6. I thought my Pattern score would be between a 6.3 and 6.5. Score? 5.8

I now thought my Free Study entry was possibly good enough for a Top 10. That implies a 6.8 or above. Score? 6.1. Not even close.

That's the current "cluelessness" I'm referring to. I'm not clueless as to how to take a picture. ;)

I totally agree. It seems things have changed with voters. I know I haven't improved much lately but my scores have suddenly jumped. To me they are the same level of quality I was producing when I was getting 6.2s and 6.5s but now they score a little higher although I doubt it will last. After back to back ribbons I thought I had an outside chance at another one with my Pattern entry and it's currently at 5.97. My free study entry which I had entered just as a placeholder and forgot to switch out is scoring 6.7 so go figure. Such a wacky world this DPC is.

From my perspective, the quality of your PP has improved noticeably. This alone is enough to account for the phenomenon you're describing. Excellent PP is worth at least half a point over run-of-the-mill PP on a given image.

Doc, I think voting in Free Studies is a little different to the run of the mill challenges. I find them pretty difficult to guess too.

As for your score, thats still pretty good, but not upto your high standards so I understand your disappointment.

		| | 6.5ish here also. Like Doc, I had expected a higher score from this one, but who can complain about a 6.5?

		| | Here is mine, Really dissapointed in being under 5 on this one, I thought it would be at least a 5.5. And only one comment about too much neat image, but I do not own that program so I dont know what to say about that comment either. Anyone have an idea of what too much neat image might mean, if you do not use that program. Only PP I do is in CS2.
Anyone want to volenteer to give me a clue on whats wrong with it after free study????

 Thanks
 Rich

I think most people here would not be happy about scoring below their averages.

He never said it was below his "average." He simply said he had no clue and displayed his 6.1111 score. That is a good score to 90% of us here so it is kind of like saying 90% of DPC'ers have no clue either, thus the question was asked and rightfully so.

Kinda disappointed. About the same as previous challenges, even though I felt, IMO anyways, that I have improved quite a bit in my PP skills. Thought this one would end up low to mid 6

WOW! Your last ten entries are all above 6 with two 7's. Very impressive.
