I went to Elk Island NP this morning with the intention of shooting some birds. Mostly chickadees were hanging out though a Nuthatch made an appearance along with a skitterish squirrel and a very cute porcupine.

A few more... this time with critter in a tree.



All were shot at ISO 800 with the 100-400 @ 400. f5.6. Shutter was around 1/250 for all.

Ah, thanks. I always thought they were spikier than that. We only have hedgehogs here, which have much shorter spikes.

The porcupine's spikes are on the tail (not shown).

edit: Apparently this is only a myth... When they feel threatened they will whip their tail over their head throwing the spikes.
