Greetings everyone! I hope all are having a wonderful holiday season!

I received the Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens, lens hood and the case that B&H recommended for Christmas. Well, B&H must not take the lens hood in to account because it doesn't fit in the Tamrac lens case they suggested. I was wondering if anyone else has this lens and lens hood and has found a case that fits it with the lens hood reversed on the lens? The lens hood is a good bit wider than the lens itself. I would appreciate any information or links to cases that you have and work for this lens!

I hope everyone has a super New Year!!!

Thanks!!!
Bill

Sorry no idea on the case. You don't have a backpack for your gear? I just bought this lense for my wife for xmas. It fits well both in my large pack and her tiny wanna-be backpack.

I stack my lenses in my backpack without their hoods, then put the hoods upside down over which ever lens they will fit over. Its a bit of a stretch to fit the hoods for the 70-200 and the 100 prime, but with a little juggling they will fit eventually. If you don't want to use a camera bag, you can loop a string through the lens hood and attache it to the side of the lens bag.

Actually, I have a large professional Tamrac bag that I carry my gear in but it is just about splitting at the seams with 2 bodies, 2 flashes, lenses, and everything else I lug around in it. I think it's probably time to upgrade to one of those really large backpacks that also allows me to carry my laptop with my camera gear. A buddy of mine just got one of those and really likes it. Maybe even one of those rolling cases might do the job.(?)

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate that!

All very good ideas and methods of carrying your gear. I'm a little bit of a freak though when it comes to my things being all organized and put in there right place where they belong. It would drive me crazy to have things that go together not together in my bag or just dangling. Again, I'm the freak and nothing against how you carry your stuff. I'm just a PIA even to myself when it comes to stuff like this. :)

Thanks for your reply! I appreciate it!!!
