Am I correct to assume that comments made during the voting period are not discarded even if the vote is?
In a recent challenge, I had 4 comments with an average vote of 4.667. Given that you can only cast integer votes, this isn't possible (4 * 4.667 = 18.668), however, three votes would work out to 14.
This one caught my eye because it was one of those odd cases where the commenter average was well below the overall average.

It is my understanding that if a vote that had an attached comment was discarded the comment would remain. Only the vote will be lost. |

I would think that the comments stick regardless of the vote being counted. It's also possible that someone just commented and didn't vote. I've done that on several challenges, made comments without voting.
edit to clarify...

It's likely that one of two scenarios came into play:
1.) Someone voted and commented, but had their vote discarded either because of their voting pattern, or they did not vote 20%
2.) Three of the commentors voted, the fourth did not. |

I didn't realize you could comment without voting. So you enter the comment but click the ">>" hyperlink instead of a number? |

I think that works, but if I'm just commenting I'll use the icon next to the image (in the thumbnail view) that's for commenting only. |

Yes; I can confirm that it does work. I just tested it to be certain. |
