hey all,

so I just designed a photography Web site for myself, so if any of you have any free time, a critique would be appreciated :)

I started a thread on it.

Thanks to all my teammates for all the fun we had in WPL3 - and I'm looking forward to even more fun in WPL4 :)

Congrats on the web page. It looks great! I'm not great at reviewing stuff like that but it looks like you're getting some good feedback. The one thing I tend to like is a bunch of negative space around good images - so my only advice would be too allow for negative space.
My web page is in need of a major overhaul so your nice page just makes me wanna work on my own :]

Lisa, very nice webpage. I do like what you have done, and also agree with some of the comments on how to make it even better. That battleship gray is pretty grim (:-) but still, your site is a great start and one you can be proud of.

Tate, glad to hear you are doing well in AA. You've just done yourself and ImageNation proud over the past few weeks. Let's keep the momentum going for WPL4 by posting our scores for upcoming Challenges...

My Pattern was a lot higher last night, but still:

Good news over bad â€Â¦ I just welcomed jaded_youth to our team for WPL4! I hadn't heard back from Caleb so hopefully he's doing well.

On a side note, if anyone has any other replacement ideas I am afraid another WPL might just be too much for me. I need to concentrate on some issues with my house and my family and I may not be able to contribute as much. If we don't find a replacement, I'll still do it, but if anyone has any ideas, feel free to shot them out to the team in this forum.

The site looks good, Lisa. One thing I would caution is: you have all those great images, make sure that JPEG compression doesn't make them look bad. If you look closely at some of the images, ie the butte mnt shot on the home page, you can see it above the building.

There's obviously a tradeoff between file size and quality, but since it's the images you're showcasing, it's probably better to lean toward quality. Is the software you're using automatically setting this, or is it under your control? Either way, you can fix it.

Ok, as for DPC, non-member challenges piss me off. >=P My Pattern shot is doing horribly - admittedly, I was a bit rushed again, but it's not that bad! Oh well, at least it makes me feel better that it doesn't have to count for WPL.

-Jeff

Edit: Oh man, Tate, that's bad news. I'd prefer you stay on (even if you miss a week or two). However, I understand being busy, and you gotta do what you gotta do. Family first!

Yay...Welcome Crystal!

Tate, this was our first WPL (at least for the most of us) and I dare to say that we did a great job, 7 strangers in the beginning and now a TEAM who can kick some a$$. The point is that we (and I hope I speak for everybody) will try much harder in the next WPL so you don't have to worry Captain.

jaded_youth welcome to
We had a great time in our first season, and look forward to even more fun next time around.

Tate, I can understand your concerns about the rest of your life (I am reminded there is life other than DPC)! You're very good at this, and getting even better. I'm glad you think you can stick around for one more go at this, and meantime, just try to pace yourself a little. Okay? :-)

Also a warm welcome from me to jaded_youth - nice to see you on the team... :)

And like others have expressed, I would hate to see you go Tate, but at the same time I recognize that there are other things more important than WPL and DPC (and I know my wife would agree as well :) )

Thanks for the welcome! I'm excited. I was just going to take a break this season but then I got WPL withdrawls before the new one even started. lol :P

Hey
I was just snooping around Jaded_Youth's old team thread and noticed the huge let-down after losing in WPL3. I felt the same way- one day laterm though, my mojo might be returning a bit.
I think our team will be stronger and I look forward to WPL4!

Welcome Jaded Youth!

And we will kick some butt in WPL 4!

So...something wierd happend to my occupation score...GOOD, but wierd...

After two votes my score went up from 6.46xx to 6.4904...Yet one of my commenters said he/she gave me a three. But that's impossible, because I used an excel sheet, and the average vote for those two votes had to be an 8.849 or something to go up that high...yeah, a three wouldn't fit in there anyway.

Anyway, the comment seemed kind of sarcastic. When I read it the problems he pointed out were...well one was extremely nitpicky and shouldn't have really applied. I checked the profile and the person joined in November, and they have no entries, no portfolio, and it says they've made no comments....wierd...

Anyone else in the occupation challenge have this happen to them?

Glad to hear you are getting back to 'normal' Tate.

BTW, Crystal, I checked your profile, and note you don't have a signature anymore. Well be sure to add this when you get around to it:

That will give you the
that we like to look at. (removing the extra space after the 1st [img] and before the last one, of course)

Lisa, would that something nice like that happened to my Occupation score. It's just sitting there in its rather prosaic mid-five slot with lots of nice, normal comments. Congratulations on your very nice score!

Hey Alice or anyone else on the West coast ... Perhaps you want to sign us up tomorrow night / Jan 1st ...
I will undoubtedly be asleep (I've been ill all weekend) so maybe we can designate a signer-upper (I realize I am "cap'n" but I figure we better get in ASAP since it seems to be really popular.
Let me know if I have a volunteer. PS: I have yet to read the official sign-up rules so I'm gonna go do that now ;}

I'm not sure...I might be able to. I'm going back to Idaho tommorrow to visit my boyfriend, but I'm not sure yet if we're going to have a movie night at my place or go out to the bars...I should know tommorrow afternoon sometime.

But if anyone else can make the committment, that would rock!

Sign up for WPL4. Sure. I'm free to do that. Let me read the fine print to make sure it's okay to do this, and I'll PM you later in the day, Tate to finetune our entry.

Okay, gang. I submitted our entry in WPL4 at something like 2 minutes after midnight, server time.
Wish us luck!
Happy New Year to all.

Alice

PS, I see Giorgio and T8 are right up there in contention in the Occupation Challenge. Way to go, guys.

Good morning, everyone! Here it is: 2007 is upon us.

When you check our listing in WPL4, look for us in slot #12.
Our entry came in at one minute 10 seconds into the new year
but those Pirates came in at 14 seconds and took slot #19 and we received our 2nd choice, which was a random number. So, welcome to the newcomers. And it looks as if we are in really
good company in our new spot.

Happy New Year!
