I got a phone call from my daughter to say her boyfriend - which no one in the family is particularly crazy about - gave her a ring and proposed. ugh
It wasn't bad enough that I am spending my first Christmas without my daughter, or any other family for that matter - but now this.
I think when I get off work I'm gonna get good and drunk |

See brand new and exciting default camera :-) Also got some duckies which light up, a portable lamp and various non-photographic things, including the requisite wrong-sized sweater from my mother-in-law. Very nice lady, really, but I think this now qualifies as a tradition after many, many years of buying me LARGE things which I don't fit into... as does returning the latest large thing and picking out something that fits. Or maybe I should just resolve to grow into her expectations! |

an electric litter box
a Camelbak MULE
a cashmere sweater
a bracelet made from cut up gift cards
a cookbook stand
some books I've been wanting to read
a "Would You Rather" board game
some Pfaltzgraff Villa della Luna teacups
and an upgrade to CS2 (yayayay!!!)
But the best "gift" was finally making it home after being stuck in the Denver airport for a nightmarish day in which we watched ourselves on CNN all day. If you're curious what it was like there on Saturday, I've posted my account here: //karmabreeze.livejournal.com

It's not sad Sher, I spend enough money on junk throughout the year.
The amount of money I spend is sad though.

I spent way too much on my kids this year, but I sure did enjoy watching the presents being opened! I did a "deal or no deal" series with my oldest daughter. One of the things I gave her was cash...I put it in 5 different envelopes (all decorated with the "Deal or No Deal" graphics) - each taped to the box lid of one of her presents. After she opened the first, and saw how much was inside, the next time she encountered one of the envelopes she had to decide whether to keep the one she had opened, or give that back to me and take the new one. She had no clue how much the top amount was. At the end, she was just given all the cash, but it made it a bit more fun and interesting.

NOTE TO SELF: No more kids toys that need to be "put together"!! Holy smokes, what happened to the days of just opening a toy and being able to play with it! (without adult intervention)
As for me - my lovely wife managed to get me a Canon 15mm 2.8 Fisheye lens - sweeeeettt! Let the fun begin! |
