I want to move my flash (480EX) further away from my camera (Canon Digital Rebel XT) than it just being mounted on the camera and was thinking of getting a cord to be able to connect the two and make the flash unit mobile.
Unfortunately I don't have the money a whole studio lighting rig.
Can anyone advise me of what the cord is called to be able to do this?

Thanks in advance.

You're after an Off Camera Cord. Canon does the following: here

There are loads of other options with varying prices attached. Just do a search on Off Camera Cord.

Or (For some options to spend your money on)...

If you want to get it further than the off camera shoe cord will take you, look into getting a 580ex or 2nd hand 550ex, and you can use your 480 as a slave, and the 580/550 as a master on the camera.

Or, get the cord, and the 550/580 then you can have the key light near you (the 550/580) and have the 480 as a fill or hair light behind your victims, er, models.

Or.. Get the ST-E2 remote trigger, but I'd not recomend it, as the money you spend on that you're better off getting another flash, IMHO.

Cheers, Me.
