Have there been any big changes from paint shop pro 8 to the new paint shop pro?

There were quite a few changes from psp9 to pspX so I expect to go from psp8 to psp 11 there would be a lot of changes. The simplest way to check would probably be to download the free trial and see for yourself. I found that some of the features available in pspX brought it closer to some of the features in photoshop CS2, while not being as complicated to use. I really like the clarify and digital noise removal features that are built in.

digital noise removal features, sounds great!
Is it better then neat image?

I haven't really used Neat Image, so I am not sure if it is any better but it does a good job. You can select areas or apply to the whole image as well as specify the strength of the effect.

Can it view your pentax Raw files?

Ok, got the demo downloaded and working.
Looks cool, I checked the Pentax Raw (.PEF) for files assosiations, but it still can seem to open any of my .pef files.

Any idea why that would be?

It looks like it takes a patch to accept the files. Have you downloaded it?

thanks, will check out the link.
I have been playing with it for hours and hours tonight.
Love all the new tools that paint shop pro 8 did not have.

I purchased the upgrade to X this summer. Immediately after, (like 1 day) I get a message that 11 is out. I'm not happy with Jasc/Corel right now.

Aside from that, I think it's a solid program without too many problems. The only complaint I have is with their RAW format handling (or lack thereof) for the 30D. They're essentially ignoring porting over the information to X, even though the product is still available. It annoys me. That might be a moot point with 11 though...

I've got some PSP XI screenshots and examples here. I did these on an Intel Mac running Windows under Boot Camp.

Up until this point, being a Mac user, I had not really explored PSP. I find it quite decent and use it as my main image browsing and editing app (and as a host for plug-ins when taking screenshots and making examples for my website) while using Windows. I use Photoshop on the Mac side.
