I know that everyone here has the hobby of photography, but does anyone know anything about musical instruments? I got one for Xmas and can't find useful information on it. It is a HAND MADE HELMKE 4/4 FULL SIZE VIOLIN. Hopefully someone here knows more than I.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Not sure what you want to know exactly? I'm a masters student for violin, I'll help if I can, but I can't promise to know anything haha!

..if you don't want it pass it over this way.....

:-)

P.S. I just googled this violin and I found them on eBay for around $65USD...dunno if that's what you were looking for or not..and if not, sorry I ruined it for you. *oopsie!* You could check out the auctions for more info on the violin itself I'm sure.

Pick up a bunch of music books and teach yourself. Be sure to have a few lessons to correct your technique and keep you from developing bad habits. Otherwise - practise. Same as photography - the more time you spend at it the better the rewards.

Get a private instructor like at a community music school. It's possible to teach yourself, but you'll end up with a lot of bad techniques and habits. A $100 isn't going to sound like a strad, but give it to a good player and it'll sound like a violin. A lot of the sound depends on the player, to a point.
