Living in a 3 bedroom trailer we where saving for a home, at the same time dealing with all the issues a family of 5 includes. But I knew the love of my life also wanted to get married.
So on the pretence of spending the Christmas money on the children, And my love and I just limiting ourselves to $5.00 I went shopping. First to Wal-Mart for my wife̢۪s favorite candy, a box of chocolate covered cherries, next to the jewelry store for a reasonably priced engagement ring. I carefully opened the box of chocolates with a razor, replaced one of the candies with the ring, and glued it back to look normal.
Christmas day the kids where happy with the toys, I with my coffee cup, and my wife with her candy.
A little later when she opened the box, she was absolutely silent, cried, and put it on the proper finger.

Awww...you willl have me crying in a minute.

Dude, Rule #1 of the Mann Code states, "Although I might carryout acts of mushiness, I shall not put other men to shame by recounting them in public."

;) Kudos.

I don't get to spend Christmas with my family until the 29th since I'm coming in from Okinawa Japan.

I haven't wrapped the gifts in case of airport security issues. I am trying to find a unique way of wrapping my daugters IPOD video, even though she is certain she is finally getting one. I got her a 3 pack of those rubberized IPOD protectors and was thinking of weighting each one down to feel like the real thing and wrap each so she doesn't know which is which then probably putting the real thing in a big box lol.

Any of you creative people got a better idea? Would love the ideas.

you could buy a nerf football and cut a section out to fir the ipod in, then glue it back together.

Or you could stick it inside of her shoe and then when Christmas is over and she thinks she didn't get one, tell her to get her shoes on because you have XYZ chore for her to do.

awwwww...and i thought romance was dead! what a sweet sweet story. brought a tear to my eye. you're one of the good guys. :)

usually, i wrap all my gifts in plain white or brown Kraft paper then hand paint Christmas designs and decorations on them...finishing off with a hand tied bow. wasn't up to it this year so everyone got store bought wrapping paper. :/
