...sounds like a cool idea to investigate.
People like me that can articulate phrases, but can not spell those words correctly in those phrases would use such a tool.
How hard would it be to incorporate such a feature in the forums?
Spell check a post before download to the general public sounds like a no brainer.
Just a thought.

Get Firefox 2.0 - it's in there and it's a good thing.
And it's free.

I have had major problems with Firefox 2.0 and went back to IE and love it. So that is not an option for me

Yeah, the spell check on Firefox is a really nice feature. But what I'd REALLY love is something that will scream at people when they use "your" instead of "you're." Instead, I have to scream at the screen each time I see it used improperly.

Maybe you could make (potentially NSFW)this pop up? ;)
I'd fully support any method which would allow American_Horse to spell check. Really. |

Oddly, Firefox 2.0 on the Mac does not appear to support spelling check as-you-type. Safari has had it since very early, but why not the Firefox version on the Mac. Am I missing it somewhere?? |

Please help make the world safe for apostrophes. There are only so many of them in this world, and if you use them up there won't be any more. A World Without Apostrophes would be a sadder world.
Oh, and while we're at it, I'd like to throw in a fix for they're/their/there. And to/too/two. |

Please include a very loud scream for "would OF" instead of "would HAVE". |

A few more tips for those who'd like others to write good:
1. Avoid alliteration. Always.
2. Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
3. Avoid cliches like the plague. (They're old hat.)
4. Employ the vernacular.
5. Eschew ampersands & abbreviations, etc.
6. Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are unnecessary.
7. It is wrong to ever split an infinitive.
8. Contractions aren't necessary.
9. Foreign words and phrases are not apropos.
10. One should never generalize.
11. Eliminate quotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."
12. Comparisons are as bad as cliches.
13. Don't be redundant; don't use more words than necessary; it's highly superfluous.
14. Be more or less specific.
15. Understatement is always best.
16. One-word sentences? Eliminate.
17. Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake.
18. The passive voice is to be avoided.
19. Go around the barn at high noon to avoid colloquialisms.
20. Even if a mixed metaphor sings, it should be derailed.
21. Who needs rhetorical questions?
22. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement. |

Found a few more:
It behooves you to avoid archaic expressions.
Avoid archaeic spellings too.
Don't use commas, that, are not, necessary.
Do not use hyperbole; not one in a million can do it effectively.
Never use a big word where a diminutive alternative would suffice.
Subject and verb always has to agree.
Be more or less specific.
Placing a comma between subject and predicate, is not correct.
Use youre spell chekker to avoid mispelling and to catch typograhpical errers.
Don't repeat yourself, or say again what you have said before.
Don't be redundant.
Use the apostrophe in it's proper place and omit it when its not needed.
Don't never use no double negatives.
Poofread carefully to see if you any words out.
Hopefully, you will use words correctly, irregardless of how others use them.
Eschew obfuscation.
No sentence fragments.
Don't indulge in sesquipedalian lexicological constructions.
A writer must not shift your point of view.
Don't overuse exclamation marks!!!
Place pronouns as close as possible, especially in long sentences, as of 10 or more words, to their antecedents.
Writing carefully, dangling participles must be avoided.
If any word is improper at the end of a sentence, a linking verb is.
Avoid trendy locutions that sound flaky.
Everyone should be careful to use a singular pronoun with singular nouns in their writing.
The adverb always follows the verb.
And always be sure to finish what
