I was going to enter this for the pet portrait challenge, and I submitted it with one hour to spare:

I then went to bed, got the laptop out so I could show my girlfriend what picture I had used and to my horror, I noticed the horrible purple coloring/banding on his face.
So I quickly went back and desaturated various colors and did loads more color corrections, but I couldn't get rid of it.
It wouldn't show up on my desktop, just the laptop.
So one of them is set improperly.
I couldn't risk entering it with such an obvious flaw.
So I ended up submitting this one (which didn't fare too well!!):

Anyway, can anyone else see the purple I'm talking about?
Or is it just my laptop?

Thanks.

I'm not seeing it. I see a grey area (burned?) on the cheek facing the camera but no purple anywhere.

EDIT: There is a strange yellowish haze on the back ear though.

I don't see any purple. I see the grey area that TechnoShroom talks about, but that's it. But I didn't vote in that challenge anyway so it wouldn't matter ;)

i don't see purple...but I do see a yellowish band around the cats face, ears....actually almost the the whole right side of the face that's against the black...and I'm also on a laptop if that's any help.

ETA: Just saw was shroom added...that's what I see a yellowish haze...all along the edge of the cat....plus up in the left hand corner a little.

I just looked back on my laptop and I've (very) roughly circled the offending areas:

that's weird...because I don't see it as dark...it's lit up on my laptop for me...like you dodged it.

Adjusting levels makes the yellow really easy to see.

Still don't see purple though.

yup...that's what I see (what shroom just did) except on a smaller scale.

oh...and still no purple here either.

At the risk of asking a stupid question... if you move the image to a different part of your monitor does the purple you're seeing stay in exactly the same place on the cat?

I never noticed the yellow until now.
I'm doubly glad I didn't enter it!!!!
Strange that no-one else can see the purple though.
I think I definitely need some monitor calibration.
maybe I'll get one for christmas :-)

nope, not a stupid question.
And nope, it doesn't move, the purple stays in the same place on the cat.

I'm now thinking that purple might not be the right color description.
It's maybe a pinkish plum color!!!!!!!!!
I know it doesn't help much.
It doesn't really matter how i describe it anyway.
If you could see any color there, you would know it was out of place.

And I like your user profile Bjorn (technoShroom), very funny.

No purple, no plum, no pink. Nothing out of the ordinary in the circled areas. I'm on a laptop and have Huey monitoring my colors, FWIW. He did see the yellow, but says otherwise the picture is fine ;-)

I do see the purple and the yellow, the purple is in the cats ear that faces you, and the yellow is quite bright.

I use a mac with calibrated monitor, and I also see the yellow, no purple. Is it only in the one file, or others as well? Try shooting a pic of a white card, out of focus, and see if the monitor is even all over when you upload it from the camera.
For some reason while reading this thread, I'm thinking "and a partrige in a pear treeeee"

Maybe he's just a very spiritual cat, and has an aura. They seem to be popular lately.
