Okay, so I bought my wife a Pentax K100 for Christmas. I ordered it two weeks ago from B & H with 3 day ground shipping. B & H was great sent the package out the same day I ordered it. Its been sitting in the Durango warehouse for 5 days now. For the past three days on the UPS tracking site I have gotten this message. "THE PACKAGE WAS MISSED AT THE UPS FACILITY, UPS WILL DELIVER ON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY" I called the first night and asked to have it placed at will call, I went down to pick it up (a hour and half drive for me) and was told that it wasn't there and that it had been loaded on the truck for delivery. Great, wasted my time, but at least I'd have my wifes gift- nope no such luck- the same message appeared this morning, so it was there when I was, they just didn't know where.
I called this morning and was assured that it would be delivered to me no later than 11:00 a.m. and that they were truly sorry for the mixup. Well the UPS guy made his delivery runs here, still no package. I know the driver so I flagged him down and asked him to make sure that I didn't have a package- he went through the entire truck- then called down to the office and they said "Yea we pulled it yesterday but nobody came to pick it up so we put it back on the delivery rack." They came back a couple of minutes later and said- "Nobody sorted that rack this morning so we missed it."

And now you know who to blame.... :)
(Sorry to hear about your woes with the men in brown...they're not usually so daft! Hope it comes soon!) |

Never had a problem with UPS (knock on wood) but it's the time of the year where they move tons of boxes and have a lot of temps also, so unfortunately things like this happens quite often.
Only wishes that they would ring the doorbell once instead of chiming it like a grandfather clock at Noon.
His and Hers K100D? Nice. |

I just got off the phone with a supervisor and he offered me a certificate for a free package shipping up to $30- but he couldn't tell me when they might deliver the package. He suggested I just come to the office and pick it up, when I told him that it was a hour and half drive he said "We're open until 5."
Yea, she started using my K100 a few weeks ago and I was at a loss for a nice gift for her so decided it was time she get a DSLR. Now I need to give her a gift membership to DPC.

A FedEx package my boyfriend is expecting:
Monday morning - Delivery Exception, Rural Location
Tuesday morning - On truck for delivery
Tuesday evening - On truck for delivery
Wednesday morning - Delivery Exception, Rural deliveries require more time
Thursday morning - On truck for delivery
Yes, we are rural, but we're not on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. We're in a small village about 15 minutes from a town of 2,000 or 35 minutes from a city of 70,000. We have our own post office and UPS and DHL have no issues getting to us. I could see 1 extra day for a rural address, but 3? (and that's assuming it gets here today) |

FedEx is the only company that will deliver here before noon. I live about 25 miles north of Durango about 1/4 mile off the main highway on a 3 lane paved road.
UPS just cost themselves about $15k in buisness next year. One of my board members owns a huge printing company in Dallas and he was here when I was on the speaker phone with the UPS supervisor. When he heard the comment about "we're open until 5." He said "That's H********" Grabbed his cell phone and told his secretary to cancel the UPS account and make arrangements with FedEx.
On a positive note- B&H has already refunded my shipping costs and sent me a email apology.
I still don't have my package.

At least your personal solution falls easily to hand; box your OWN K100 up to give her on Xmas day if the other has not arrived :-)

Sorry to hear about your package Kendall. I work for FedEx in Denver. But, before that I had a rural route in Mississippi. When I mean rural, I mean rural.....dirt roads, backwoods, 'Traspassers will be shot' signs (and they mean it), mean dogs, roads that when it rained I could not go down etc etc. The best way to handle something like that is to call the call center and ask to be transferred to the station delivering the package. They can take directions (if needed) and give it directly to the driver. I've had problems finding someone one day and the next day I had directions and the customer got their package. You can also request the driver call you in the morning or when they get in the area. Hope it all works out.

FedEX has been the most reliable delivery service that I've used. UPS usually delivers after 5pm here :( |

The package just arrived. I'm thinking they must have been stock piling the Camp Sherman deliveries, because the truck seems to be stopping at a lot of the neighboring houses. Fortunately we're paved and easy to find, just a little out of the way.
Also, though UPS has been good here, they were terrible back in New Hampshire. I don't think we ever got a package on time with them and they were always left by the mail boxes rather than brought to our apartment door (as other carriers did, even the Postal Service would bring it up if it didn't fit in the box). We once ordered a large appliance that came UPS and they left the box in the building entry way completely blocking the outer door, the stairwell and the door to the business on the first floor. Fortunately, I was home and went down to check for it not long after it arrived. Our landlord (and the fire marshal for that matter) would not have been pleased. |

Nope...operations are shut down in Englewood as is DIA. The Service Center was open earlier (not sure for how long) for anyone who would like to pickup their packages. All you need is a tracking number and ID.

Thank you Robert. That really is the best piece of advice I have gotten today. And I did keep my boxes.
The driver- who I've played softball with for 3 years- just called me a little bit ago and said that they've been told there will be no deliveries tomorrow since they won't be getting a truck from Denver.
He told me that he'd try to 'liberate' my box for me. He said it was 50/50. He also told me that the supervisor is a real jerk, so he wasn't sure if they would allow him to remove the box.

UPS is playing CMA.
They just called me to let me know that the reason my package had not been delivered is that the truck from Denver had been in an accident. I asked him why the tracking website said that it had been missed and not loaded on the truck. He then explained that it was a standard message that they used in situations like this. I asked him what night the truck had been in an accident he said that is was a 9 o'clock on the 17th. I pointed out to him that it showed arrival in Durango at 11:43 P.M. on the 16th. He stuttered for a moment then said that it must be an error on the tracking website and that he had another call.
