Congrats on turning 29 :-) Lots of good suggestions from everyone else so I won't repeat 'em but will add:
Go bungie jumping
Spend a day with your parents or grandparents
Start saving for... something, anything, just start putting a little away each month
Cheers

You must have seen the show!
"1. FIGURE OUT HOW TO GROW UP, NOT OLD ΓΆ€” Each day should be an adventure where you do something different, learn something new and experience anything life throws at you." |

this is a great thread! I turned 29 in October and these are my goals for the year:
1. Run a marathon (done!)
2. have casual sex and/or hook up with attractive guy with no intention of dating
3. be completely irresponsible (with the intent of becoming responsible when i turn 30)
4. Enjoy every day
thats all. I plan to live fully in my 30s too so no need to cram all the extravagant stuff into this decade! |

Every day...do something that frightens you.
I just turned forty, and embracing this philosophy has changed my life.
Enjoy the last 12 months of your twenties! |

I did a lot of cool things before I was 30. I've done a lot more and way cooler neater things since then. |

Stella Dallas said there was "life after 40". Who was Stella Dallas? Um, your grandma might know.
In other words, forget the number. Enjoy your progress through life whatever number you add on to your birthdate each year.
Advice? Learn from yourself, learn from others. Do not hurt anyone.

Bump... lots of great suggestions coming in!
Of course, I'll post my list here (based on your contributions) over the next few weeks and then you let you know how I got on.
P.S. If you read my original note, I didn't say anything about getting old! Sure as heck hadn't crossed my mind; but I can't deny it's a bit of a milestone.
P.P.S. Thinking how lucky I am right now as I have already done quite a few of the things mentioned so far.

Chinabun, i feel your pain. i am a guy, and i went through some self reflection when i recently turned 30 as well. i lied to someone i was 29 because of an unconscious fear that more is expected of you when you turn 30. i am getting over that now. i think the most important thing is to have a clear picture of your career and personal goals at age 30, you might not have the means to attain them yet, but you should have them written in some form of personal statement or mission statement. there are no rules about what should be or should not have been done before thirty. at 30 i'll recommend focusing on healthy habits like exercise, eating right, reading right etc. i think you should have watched porn, got drunk , and dated casually before 30. 30 shouldn't be the age to start experimenting with every dumb ideas that pops into your head, such as casually hitting the ass of the girl in front of you in the train and seeing how she will react. |

Poor me... I read the learn how to cook posted by Robert, had a flashback to my visit with him and remember the wonderful meals he prepared...and now, I can think of nothing else. :O)
On the good side... I am well over 30.

This is a 2006 thread so Sam's almost 32 now :D
But anyway... (1) Go somewhere new for a week anonymously and don't tell anyone where you'll be. (2) Do something nice for someone you don't know, the bigger the better. |

Honestly and truthfully accept that your life on earth as well as the lives of those you love are temporary and fleeting. Rinse, repeat.
Happy THANKSgiving

Personally, I'm a year and a half away from the the big 30 and have just 2 goals...to be happy and healthy! I'm working on the first one and the second is totally out of my hands so would settle for not being any worse than I am now ;o)
As, Sam is passed the 30 mark now I'd be interested to know what what his 10 things were!?
