regarding the EXIF data:
Camera Make: SONY
Camera Model: DSC-P41
Image Date: 2004:09:01 20:29:49

Does anyone here have this model camera? If so, try resetting the firmware. Some electronics default to 1/1/x where x is the year the device came out. Maybe this camera will default to 1/1/2004 (or 2004:01:01). If 2004:09:01 is jan 9th, it could be that the camera was just activated 9 days ago.

I'm not saying this is the case, just one thing to consider. Still leaves two reasons for DQ (editing, and date).

Edit: typo

It's a 4 MP version of a camera that was popular about 3 years ago (a friend of mine had one). It's also not even listed on her profile as a camera she owns. While I appreciate you giving her the benefit of the doubt, I think it's a fairly open and shut case.

I hope you have the original for your Pink Floyd entry because I have the sense you will be asked for validation...

Not to say it can't be done, but it wasn't a good start.

If she didn't get the basic editing right than it seems equally plausible to me that she would have thought older photos were ok. Speaking of which, the basic editing rules doesn't really make that clear only that you need to have exif data to record your settings.

Then... I don`t know how you could be so sure of this:

oh dear!
i hope this doesnt get removed..
i cant find the original!
and they want prof of validation.
i sayed up all night worrying about this.
the thing that annoys me is that im sure this is a valid entry.
if i could just find my original! *sob*

Just for you, here are a few basics you will need to remember if want to stay around:
-Read the rules... they apply to everyone.
-Dont submit advance editing pictures to basic...
-Dont submit expert editing in advanced or basic (just in case)
-Dont submit pictures that havent been taken in the challenge dates.
-Retain your original.
-It would be nice if you had a camera that match the exif data on your pictures.
-Having an average vote cast of less than 4 will not ban you from the site, but surely will make people think you are a "troll".
-Oh yeah, and if you messed up, just dont try to cover.. It makes it worst.

Then..yeah sure... wellcome to DPC

Possible Richard, but then again in her Help, me, I'm freaking out thread she totally bites on the idea of being able to possibly recover her shot from her card. "If this works, ur a lifesaver."

Ya, right. It's gonna take a real newbie to think you can recover your shot from a card 3 years old.

Actually, just to give Julia the benefit of the credit for the picture, it does appear to be a self-portrait after all...

Julia's Anime Webpage

Looks like the profile picture and the girl in the DQ'd shot are the same...

I hadn't seen that other thread just this one. I could be wrong obviously. Since there are lots of DQs by newbies I just think that maybe the rules while very clear to us is not for a newbie. Maybe we as well as newbies should take a "test" just to see how we do and have that be done anonymously not to single people out but to provide information on how to make the rules clearer and more prominent. It could be just simple things like what page and what paragraph explains the nudity clause or use of filters, etc. Anway, just a thought.

I totally appreciate the gracious and merciful sentiment Richard. I'll just fade into the background now.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Leroy (fotomann forever) got caught up in a big advanced/basic brouhaha in his first 10 challenges and he is now a beloved personality on the site...

Julia, I don't think anyone here is intentionally kicking you. However, they do have a right to discuss how they feel about your DQ and that is what I see happening here. You shouldn't take it as a personal attack that people have opinions. This is a large community and you will find if nothing else, its FULL of opinions.

I am not going to say 'I told you so' but I was thinking of Julia's image when I wrote this in the thread here about the guy who modified the EXIF data.

The suggestion to admins is in future to have a very close look at so called 'One Challenge Wonders'.
