This really is the true spirit of Christmas isn't it. WTG Kat and hubby, and good luck with your new business.

To be perfectly honest, it truly made me smile to read Robert's excitement and warmed my heart just to be able to help him. I see him always giving to everyone here and never asking, except this one time. It is the best Christmas present I have given myself, to help Robert. I can't wait to meet him early summer when I make my trip back to the Cape for a family visit!

Already making up the guest bed and planning the menu.

Can't find my PS7 disks (sheesh) but I've got Photomatix Pro up and running and my lord, it's so much faster!

Woo hoo!

My God no Kat! You didn't give Bear more computing power! What were you thinking!

Only kidding. This is very generous of you and to such a deserving recipient. Bear helps everyone around here. Merry Christmas to you.

Wow Kat, that's true Kentucky southern hospitality for ya! Makes me proud to be a Kentuckian.
You will be doubly blessed for what you have done.
Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2007.

Latest update: the machine shipped with Elements 1.0 (!), so just in case I can't get my PS7 disks found in a timely manner, I've installed that and finished off my "Brown" entry. Dang, it's like cookin' on a two-burner stove...

CorelDraw up and running, Acrobat up and running, Photomatix Pro up and running...

PS7 up and running, Canon Digital Photographer Pro up and running, Pagemaker up and running, Microsoft Office up and running. Now to see if I can manage to transfer my actions and presets to PS7 from the other machine...

And oh yeah, be VERY afraid; my neighbors have ordered me up a copy of CS2, which is being shipped as we speak...

Ain't this fun? Thanx again, Kat, for a great Xmas!

Wow, that's really cool.

And we can all benefit because Bear will be able to churn out quality images in half the time ;)

Thank you everyone! Robert is really making me smile with every post he puts in this thread. Giving is definitely much better than receiving when you can feel the happiness and excitement through type on the internet!

Robert, I do look forward to meeting you in person and going on a Cape Cod shoot together! I'll even let you tell me how to hold my camera when you think I'm not doing it right LOL psst .. seafood .. good old fashioned New England seafood dinner! ;-)

Merry Christmas & Hugs to all!! I hope everyone gets a wish fulfilled this year!

Kat - awesome!! Hey, if I want to upgrade my board/box, can I order parts from you and your hubby's new business?? And for a small fee, can you provide tech support when I can't figure out how to install?

Robt - I don't know that this is a good thing.... for the rest of us, I mean. :-) Enjoy!

Just to give you an idea how it used to be, when I sat down at the RAW processor I had to be sure to have a newspaper to read while I waited on the churning HD. I kept a novel around for the HDRI processing. Just downloading a 1Gb CF card took about 20 minutes or so.

I gotta be honest here; I'm not sure I'm happy about all the quality reading time I've just lost...

This is really bad news for everyone. I know just how much creativity can be zapped away waiting on a system to perform 2 + 2 calculations so now that you have all this speed at your disposal I'm afraid at what you'll produce. Maybe you should go back to reading?

OMG Robert!!! That is forever!!! Now I feel even better for helping! Sorry about the reading time .. but look at it this way .. you spend less time waiting, less time processing .. in the end it should give you more time for reading! (or taking more of your awesome photos!) hehehehe

Thank you JOHNBOY1970 It has been such a thrill. I'm working on one more DPC wish. I don't think it will happen before Christmas, but hopefully shortly after :-)

LOL Yanko I'm sure you can hold your own. Your entries have been very awesome lately!

Thanks to an extraordinarily generous member, Mystopia (and her husband I'm sure), I have just received a brand new computer with a Core Duo processor and a 250Gb Hard Drive and 2Gb of RAM to replace my dying machine. I am now logging off this machine and seeing if I have what it takes to effect the transition between the two.

Words can't express how grateful I am to Kat & Co for this wholly unexpected gift. What a wonderful community we are!

Congratulation, Robert. Hope the new PC serves you well.

You are right, this is an extraordinarily generous site in both word and deed. I know. I've been a recipient of this group's incredible generosity and it is a very humbling experience.

mystopia and kirbic(in my case) are caring and giving people and, like hundreds of others, enrich this site greatly through their actions.
