I need a 3 way, not a ball head. I want something sturdy, perhaps with The degree numbers so I can start doing Panos =)
Right now I use a Manfrotto Bogen 3021B tripod, if that makes any difference. Thanks!
I tried looking for reviews on some but came up short :(

If you want spherical pano's, Manfrotto 303SPH -- modify it by removing the arm that adjusts for off-center tripod mounts--your camera should have a centered tripod mount. (this arm is the one that attaches to the camera.
If you want circular (one row) panos, Manfrotto 303Plus is good.
With either of the above heads, it helps to have a leveling plate, Manfrotto 3416.
If you want a general purpose 3 way head, the 3039 is great, its more expensive than the others, but seems to have a higher build quality. |

i'll vouch for the 303plus
you can use it for multiple row panos (but it won't be as exact as SPH model) ({i've only done one multirow so far / two rows of 12 images each})
they are not cheap but make life soooooo much easier ..

| I used a Manfrotto 3047 with my 4x5 camera. It also worked well with MF and 35mm cameras too. |

There's also this option for panoramas: Pano Bracket |

| I am planning to pick up an 804RC2 soon. I have looked at all the Bogen models online and this one seems to be the best price/performance model. |

Look at the heads before you buy them. Even the cheapest Manfrotto models are good, but the 3416 has a much better feel than the 3047 I have. (short version of the long story--tried them both locally, but the prices were twice what B&H charges, didn't know about _reputable_ on line camera stores, so bought the one I could afford). |
