Hey DPCers, sorry I've not been around for quite some time!
I've been pretty busy with the music photography, but me and my wife are about to go travelling!
I've also just sold all my Minolta equipment (well... some lenses are still about to go on EBay this evening) and have gone to the dark side of Nikon! In the last week, I've bought a Fuji S3, a Nikon 80-200mm, an 18-200mm VR, a 10-20mm, an SB-800, etc and I've not finished my shopping spree yet! My wife just bought a Nikon D80 which is also going to be my backup and second body. I'm really disappointed to part with my Minolta 7D... no other camera comes close in how good it feels and how well the controls are laid out, but the Nikon lenses and Fuji S3 are incredible!
Anyway, Kate (wife!) gave up her job, we're packing our house up so we can rent it out, and we're off travelling around the world! We're not entirely sure where we're going yet (not even for Christmas!), but we did just get a 6 month visa for India this morning which may well be our first stop. I'm aiming to get as much photojournalism done as possible while I'm travelling with an aim to getting a job with a newspaper as a staffer when I get back to the UK many years from now! I plan to cover the Olympics in Beijing in 2008, and I know there's a music school in Nepal I'd like to work at for a while, the rest is wide open. We're going to stick to the cheap places, so we'll be seeing a lot of Asia. If you'd like to meet up with us, can recommend anywhere we should go or take photos of, or just want to keep in touch, don't be afraid to PM me! I'll be updating my blog regularly (blog.eyesopen.co.uk), and you can also get in touch via MySpace! (www.myspace.com/eyesopen).
Or you can PM me in the usual way through DPChallenge.
I've had the pleasure of meeting some of you in London, it would be great to meet more global members of our community! I may well be entering loads of challenges again, as I have a feeling that we'll be seeing loads of stuff that would appeal to the DPC crowd.
Anyway, take care everyone and have a good Christmas,
Bob

Best of luck to you! That sounds like so much fun!
If you make it over here to the eastern states, stop by PA. I'll give you a place to stay if you need one. Theres a bunch of DPCer's near my house (within an hour or 2) so we could all meet up and do a GTg or something!

:)

Congrats on the great adventure (I know you mentioned it in the past, so great to see somebody throwing off the mundane). As far as places to go - spend some time in Thailand, amazing amazing people outside of the city tourist traps. The elephant baths are pretty cool with the odd chance for a pic or two :-) but there are so many photo ops in normal life there. India sounds like a lot of fun and such a diverse set of cultures - am jealous actually - Good luck and enjoy.

ps - You blog appears to be having some hassle right now as it's not available.

Hehe, fantastic! Hope you have heaps of fun, am planning on doing the same in 20-25 years or so when the kids are grown up so keep us posted regularly if you get the chance :) If you do find your way here (wich I find unlikely, Iceland is bloddy expensive), let me know so I can buy you a beer dude.

Hope to see photos too!

Hi,
I just found out yesteday that my domain (eyesopen.co.uk) was suspended because the company I was trying to renew it with hadn't done anything.
It was renewed this morning, so should take a few days to get back to normal.
This means that I've not been getting all my emails, and the blog will have been down for some people.
If you've PMed me, please get in touch again, the safest way is probably to send me a message via Myspace: //www.Myspace.com/EyesOpen.

BTW, we're flying out to Delhi on Christmas Eve, we get there Christmas Day! :-D

Edit: Just upgraded my membership... watch out for some challenge entries from India over the coming weeks!
