I hear around this time of the year it may be possible to get a shot of the lesser spotted ALEXSABARI in his natural enviorment.
Actually I do really feel that a Winter GTG in this AWSOME park in London would be a wonderful experience... COLD... but wonderful.
Anyone at all interested in taking this idea to the next level please post here so we can start making it a reality.
Thank you. |

Mak, as mentioned its a yes from me, but doubtful this side of Xmas/New Year. January is a relatively quite month for me on the photography front so that would be best.
But I agree it would be a great place to visit and Alex can take us to his favourite haunts..
However, I have a picture here of Alex in full deer regalia... this is how he gets so close to those dam creatures..

Ben,
late Jan would be even better for me as well. Maybe we can shoot for around that time. |

i live literally 3 minutes from the park (kingston gate) and would love to! only problem, as far as gtg is concerned, is that im at uni in canterbury in term time and im only home for about 4 days (17th-20th Dec) as im spending christmas in norway with my girlfriend.
the park is such a wonderful place, especially early morning during winter. im in richmond park so much when im home so id really love to attend a gtg sometime- i also have many non-dpc friends who im sure would love to attend also!
edit: spelling

It is EXACTLY the early morning winter scene I hope we can catch.. Late Jan suits me fine too, It's always better to plan these things early. OK great stuff if we can say aim at late Jan.. Im a bit crazy but I would really like to get to the Park SUPER early to get the mist over the lake and a possible deer in the background.. so might be an idea to book a cheapo hotel or we can all hit ANDERSBS and crash on his floor... hahahaha |

not to worry, theres aTravelodge in kingston ;) hahaha you're more than welcome to come for a cuppa afterwards though!
i dont know the specific times, but during certain months the pedestrian gates (uaually open all hours) are closed at night and only open at a certain time in the morning (so as to allow the wardens to keep the deer population 'in check') which may hinder the early morning shoot, but having said that they probably still open early enough- i'll check the gates when im home on the 17th.
(ladderstile gate is easy to jump but not a great idea with expensive equipment... mum and i got locked in with the dog one night and the parks police had to come and let us out- they were not happy ;) ) |

1st year English and American Literature. Oh yes, essays...
For the GTG, I guess after the first week of January works best for me, later times shouldn't be a problem.

Count me in for the Richmond park trip, it will be good to catch up with some new people and Alex again (met up in the park last year (or was it the year before)).

I think AJAger will be there too. be good to get a whole gang of us there for the morning stuff then maybe grab dinner somewhere and do the night shoot around the river. There is a small tuck shop in the park with a car parking area we could meet up. |

i think the car park you are referring to is the White Lodge one between Richmond and Ham gate. depends on how early you want to start shooting, but usually the car gates dont open until its probably a bit late. However, another option is to arrive outside Ladderstile gate (pedestrian only) and walk in as those are open all night/much earlier. Also this would be a great opportunity for those deer shots if anyone wants them as it seems to be a popular area for them. |

I would be interested depending on dates. However, I am a little confused by Alex Saberi's cryptic comment on when the gates will be open and when he might be around.

Please count me in as a definite maybe! Depends on the dates of course but this seems like a really good idea. |

ok to try and clarify with the gates:
during certain seasons the pedestrian gates (which are usually open ALL hours) are closed at night/early morning to allow wardens to keep a check on the deer population. im not sure when these dates are but i will check asap (im going home to kingston tomorrow) and post here.
the car gates (obviously needed to gain access to the numerous car parks within the actual park) are closed at night regardless of seasons, but the times between which they are closed differs. for example if the GTG was during Jan, the car gates might not open until 8.45am, however the pedestrian gates are open all hours (unless in said season for deer checks).
hope that makes it a little easier to understand, i even confused myself a little haha
would be great to see as many as possible there! |

Ooh, yet another London(ish) GTG? I think it's safe to assume that I'll be coming (as long as it's a weekend I've not got anything else planned for), and I might even be able to persuade the mrs ( chiqui) to come along too :o)
EDIT: oh, and it'd definitely have to be Jan/Feb sometime.
