I am buying a new monitor and this time it will be a LCD. I am not a professional photographer, so I do not need the best LCD. The ViewSonic VG2230wm sunds for me a good choice. What do you think? I know it has a TN+film panel, but for my student budget the (S)-IPS monitors are to expensive. Could you please help me?

I havent got that one but I just got a ViewSonic VX2025wm (20" Widescreen) and I'm REALLY happy with it. Photos look great and so do games. Only grumble is that it isnt very moveable, you cant change the height, and you cant rotate it by 90 degree to look at photos in portrait.

Thanks for help. Have you also tried to calibrate your monitor? If yes, how were the results, becasuse some cheapper LCD-s don´t calibrate very well.

Regards!

I calibrated it as best I could - there was an application with it and I used an Adobe calibration tool (in control panel). It pretty spot on, but a tad bright. Still a million times better than my old 17" CRT I was using!!!
