I have a similar problem. Stuck or blown-out pixels. Some people suggested lowering the contrast and sharpness settings. Others said to try spot metering instead of multi-metering. That seemed to work to some degree. I take it your dead pixels show up black? So I guess these suggestions probably wouldn't work in your case. You may want to contact Nikon though, because they may, like Toshiba, offer a "trade-up" option.

I had a 5700 with two 'dead' pixels. They showed up as bright pink or purple spots in the images. I just cloned them out and it was not an issue.

That works like a charm doesn't it? Too bad it's not legal here. It is considered spot editting isn't it?

SOmething I have found on my 5700. there is a few very minute dust specks on the inner lens group. I am dealing with it and it usually only shows when shooting into light (sunsets, etc.). I am able to definitely see one speck, just a matter of getting rid of the damn thing. AM NOT going to open it myself (under warranty), and have too many things this month to even think about sending it back to be "fixed."

I had stuck pixels appear on my 995 after about 8 months. I found out that nearly all of the sensors have some of these, however there is a firmware map that "proceses them out". Nikon can update the stuck pixel map, however the cmaera must be sent to Nikon to do so. If under warranty, it will be done free of charge. |
