According to my monitor this picture looks pretty good, the contrast within the face, the colors and brightness. The face is kinda rosy and the hand has a slight yellow tint.

I really need someone else's eye on this, pref someone that knows their monitor is calibrated. The best I could do to calibrate mine is to go to the winning photos in the portrait challenges and assume that they were pretty good and adjusted my monitor accordingly.

Would you change anything in this pic to make it better, to give it the most realistic skin tones?

Hmmm, you forgot the "Art Exclusion" statement in your post. But then my answers are predictable. ;-)

I see it as you describe it. If I were to change it, I'd pull back on the red saturation maybe 10-15%...

FWIW - My monitor is not calibrated, but it looked fine on two of my LCD screens. But bear's suggestion did make the skin tone look better.

As you described it, yes, I see the same as well - Rosy.
To render a bit more realistic skin tones:
Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation, Drop-down to Red
Hue +4
Saturation -10
Lightness -10

robert, brad and ken, thanks for the comments. I appologize for not responding right off. As soon as I posted I was called away.

Any way your comments were helpful. I was really having trouble with calibrating my monitor. Glad to hear and see that my set is pretty close. Actually while i was gone i had a chance to see one of my images on the monitor at a local photographers studio. It looked just as it did on mine at home. thanks again.
