I have been searching and searching for this lens online.
All the rebuildable online camera stores say back order or something like 7-10 day wait.

I have been waiting that long and are on a few email update list so when then get them instock I should get a email.

I wanted one before this weekend for taking photos of my sons birthday party. Guess that is not going to happen unless I find something tonight and do next day fed ex.

Hope to get one by christmas now.

There were a few online dealers that said they had them online and were $50 higher or so, but from what research I did online about them I would not call them rebuildable dealers.

So anyone have a good source for this lens?

I checked ebay and that might be my only hope now.
To bad all the new ones listed on ebay already have the upc removed for the rebate.

Please point me to a rebuildable online dealer that has them instock and ready to ship.

Thanks...

Looked and looked and didn't find.

I'd try calling Adorama 1 (800) 223-2500 and seeing when they are expecting them in.

When I worked in a Camera Store Pentax was one of the best about getting products in. Probably be very tight to get it by this weekend.

I have the 1.4 in MF version. It is a sweet, lens. So incredibly sharp.

Great lens and worth the wait. It always seems to be sold out at BHphoto. I don't know about the other retailers but on froogle I found this fotoconnection. And of course it was one of the most expensive places I found.

Can you tell me with the manual focus lens will the camera still give me the focus light and beep when in focus?

What should I look for in a manual.
I see some with M and some with A
My istDL book talks about the A lens doing everything but AF and that it's set to spot focus.

Beep? Is that a setting I missed? I don't know about that - but the focus indicator does indeed light up when you hit focus. It can be a real bear to focus when you fully or even near wide open!

With the 'A' you can control exposure with the thumb-wheel or use the various auto-aperture modes, with the 'M' everything is manual.

Good luck! My f1.4 is about 22 years old & still sharp as a tack when you stop downwards toward 5.6 or 8...

Ok, had to double check on the beep. Yes my istDL does beep on the focus and the book says the beep can be turned on and off.

Will see what I can find for a 50mm A lens, thanks for the fast reply

I got mine via B&H - sign up for them to email you when they are in stock. That's how I knew they were in.

Yeah, been signed up for a couple weeks now.
I keep checking the page daily only to see it's still out of stock.

It took me about 2 months, if I remember correctly. The pentax forum at dpreview is pretty active. Somebody usually posts over there when they see that they have become available. If you monitor that forum daily, you can increase your chances.

Wow, two months!
Christmas will be over with by then. :)
lol...

Guess I will just keep waiting for it.
Until then I will have to do with this one.
It's the A lens and only 1.7 but I think it should be better then the kit lens for my sons birthday party shots friday.

I am hoping to get shots without the flash.

Ok, I knew this would happen.

I got my used pentax-A 50mm f/1.7 lens (ebay) on Friday.
I had been waiting weeks for the Pentax Normal SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Autofocus Lens at B&H.

It was not only the best price I had found online, but they also offer priority mail shipping. I really like priority mail over fedEx or ups.

So after waiting and watching for a few weeks I decide to go the ebay way.

Tonight I am about to order a couple small items from B&H and just before I submit the order I check on the lens again.

It say's In Stock!!

Damn, I just knew it, lol....

So my $20 order just got bigger. :)
I really like the one I got on ebay, but f/1.4 and AF will be nice.

Just don't anyone tell my wife.....

Sorry to hijack this thread, but can the Pentax FA 50mm 1.4 lens do MACRO photography or would it be better to get a lens that actually says MACRO? Like the 100mm MACRO

Not sure, but I think you would be better off with the 100mm for macro.

Got the 50mm 1.4 in today's mail.
Darm mail man was toying with me.

I ordered it last sunday from B&H priority mail.
Got a email that monday saying it was shipped.
Coming out of new york. I get priority mail from new york sometimes next day or two at the most.

Day after day went by this week and no lens!
I get my mail around 10am.
At noon today I check my mail and no lens!
Got other mail, but no darn B&H box.

I come home from work for the day, open the door and there it is.
Son said it was sitting on the steps when he come home from school.

Was a long week waiting for it. :)
