Any one have any advice on how to get candle wax out of an antique rug? I was an idiot and spilled some all over myself, my carpet & a rug made by my great grandmother...I tried using ice & a rag on the carpet and have had some success but am damaging the carpet in the process....

Nothing to do with photography I know, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Paper towel and an iron.

Just a suggestion, I'm certainly no expert. Try Goo Gone or one of those type products (but try on an inconspicuous spot first).

An iron and paper towels. Believe me, been there. Place a stack of paper towels over the wax and with a HOT iron, iron over it until some wax is absorbed into the towels - switch to fresh towels - and repeat until all wax is gone.

OK, here's what you do. You flick off as much of the hardened wax as you can - scrape it with a kitchen knife or something that won't cut the pile. THEN - heat up the iron and place about 3 layers of paper towels and then rub the iron back and forth on the spot where the wax is and the heat will melt it and it'll soak up into the paper towel. Just keep going back and forth. That should soak up most of it. You may need to get another few towels and when you don't see any more melted wax, you've gotten most of it. Then flick it with the tines of a fork and you should be good to go.

Amazingly enough this was asked in a past thread.

i had always heard to do it with an iron on low heat and use a brown paper bag instead of paper towels.

i would try that first, at least, before you go scorching stuff.

good luck

So, the official verdict is that DPC is more useful than Google? Where do I buy stock? :)
