I recently purchased a 580ex Speedlight, which of course is larger than my 420ex so my GF Lightsphere doesn't fit.
So, was thinking of ordering another when I got this email from Gary Fong this morning:
I'm so happy to announce that the long-awaited "ChromeDome" is now on the e-store. We were only able to make 2,000 of them for this year because of the chrome plating process. But it is available now if you hurry! The ChromeDome is an awesome addition to your Lightsphere Cloud because it offers up to double the power and double the efficiency by effectively adding a reflective bowl and rear chrome kicker panel.
You also get a coupon code for all orders made in December for selected products from our e-store. Just enter the code, "December1" (IMPORTANT- no space between December and 1 or it won't work)... when it asks if you have a promotional code, and it will immediately take 10% off. Please do not delay in this one because we are sure it will be a fast sellout.
Click here to get yours shipped right away. And we now offer Next Day and 2nd Day Air service.
Thank you!
Gary Fong
Nice timing! Anyone else wanna help me deplete his inventory? ;D

I would love to have a chrome dome for my lightsphere...problem is I don't even have a flash so I don't have a lightsphere so I don't need a chrome dome. Besides, I think I am developing my own chrome dome and it is costing me nothing...except a bit of hair.
EDIT: typos...darn typos.

Got that this morning too. I had thought a while back of putting aluminum foil inside the sphere just on the backside to put out more light to the front, but this takes it a step further than that with the dome part reflecting too. |

I think I'll try that today with my 420 and see what happens

Ooh cool! Please post your results, I'd love to see how that works. I sometimes get good ideas, but too lazy to do them myself. :-/ |
