Its for a christmas present from one person I know to another person I know. It has to be slim and portable, easy to use, and about £150 (~$280). Image quality is obviously important but I can't see it being used to print more than 8x10.

I've looked at the Fujifilm Z2 and the Fujifilm F650 but I can't find any example shots at full res to see. The person doesnt like editing much so the nicer they look straight out the camera the better really.

I've read user reviews saying the Z2 is poor image quality, and some saying its good, and the F650 seems more positive from user reviews image quality-wise (and an extra megapixel), but its also nearly double the depth (30mm vs 18mm).

Anyone have either of these cameras and like to share an opinion/original shots?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions for me to look into?

Thanks!

Might want to check out the Canon PowerShot SD630. I don't have original shots offhand (I have the SD700) but there's probably some around. I can look later.

Fuji Finepix f20 or f30. Both are available for less than $250 around here.

Fuji F30 is $254 - $50 rebate. I think I'm going to pick one of these up. The reviews are great, except for some above average CA. But for $200, I don't think you can go wrong!

I am looking something like that for my wife. Nikon L3 looks nice and its fully automatic. Some friends are happy with it.

The Fuji F30 looks very stylish, and has good comments specially for the high ISO capability. The comments are not so good with high contrast subjects, but for taking pics at the pub seems the right one.

For my wife I wanted the Canon A540, to get some manual controls for me when taking the 400D is not an option. Bright side of the canon and nikon is both work with AA batteries and specially the nikon's is quite small.

Thanks, these all look pretty good so far, I'm gonna have a hard time choosing! Anyone else have any opinions to make things even more difficult? :)

£ ?? Pounds? Pounds sterling? What is this strange coin you speak of? The king's shilling? Ah, they'd probably only be taking photos of jellied eels and mash anyway.

Knees up mother brown,
Knees up mother brown!
Under the table you must go...

But just to keep this on topic, you won't go far wrong with the F30

In the current issue of Pop Photo, the author went to Yosemite with the F30 and took some impressive shots. Check it out.
