ok. i'm weird. but I like a day in the life of a bank pen. you know one thats attached to the desk? you could stay in the same place for the whole thing but get the same basic shot with LOTS of different types of people. could show how we are all connected. just a thought. |

ha. well if you really want weird....... a day in the life of a feather. release one in a city and follow it no matter where it blows all day long. I guess you may have to kick it a few times throughout the day if it gets stuck anywhere. and don't get run over by cars chasing it. lol |

OHH..yay! let me officially get my thinking cap on then. :P
Mail/postcard, not really all that exciting
A band on the day they have a gig (practice, show, after party.etc.), I might have to try this idea if I can.
a police officer? could be exciting. mightbe hard to make it happen though.
I'll keep thinking.........

THE PAPER BAG SCENE IN AMERICAN BEAUTY IS SOOOOOOOO BRILLIANT :-D
"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."
Inspiring beyond words! What a cool project you've got assigned to ya! I'm envious :)

just throwing out more ideas for the sake of variety:
a nurse
a stray cat
a medical test of soem sort than can be done in that time frame. like an AIDS test or cancer (tumor testing) and end it with the results.
like the other thing, a girl going to a clinic for a pregnancy test, geting positive results(may have to set that up though) and telling the father.
or (this is a sad one) a woman having an abortion. I doubt you'd find one to let you photograph that though but could be incredibley powerful from a 3rd party veiwpoint.
or an adoption. the day they first get the child. this would be MUCH easier to get a family to agree to if you offered prints of it and stayed out of the way mostly.
oh a birth....waking up, going to the hospital, and all the labor and delivery

In college I did a day in the life of an RSPCA ambulence/vet. She drove around the city and countryside responding to calls about injured/loose/dangerous animals both wild and domestic. It took 4 visits in threes weeks, but when it rained it poured! One night I followed her for 8 hours to 7 different calls and even had to take care of a dog while she rushed it to emergency. My professor loved it for the stories of compassion, success, failur and the dysection of human/animal emotion.
Or if you're running short on time, I found that many veterinarians are pretty open to having students produce photo essays about their work. Hope this helps! 8o)

when I was in Amsterdam I went to the Heinekan Brewery and they had a simulator where you were the heinekan bottle. You got filled, bottle top put on labeled, boxed, transported, drunk etc.. was kinda cool and could work. |

... a tube station (by the looks of you being in England)
... a 3 year old kid ( I know I have a hard time keeping up with mine :P )

The San Diego DSLR club did a group shoot last month along the lines of your topic.
Do you have a trolley or some sort of mass transit system that you could get permission to ride around on and shoot (photos) for a day.
It's a very cool gig and if you work it right you may get some advertising or published from the TA.
The day in the life of the Trolley, bus, ferry, train or whatever you might have in your area.
Check with your Transit Authority (ours gave the group badges and informed TA security what we were up to) and take plenty of release forms... |
