A Chilling Photograph's Hidden History
(from the wall street journal online)

not sure if anyone has posted this before. i looked but didn't see it...

it's a long article, but well worth the read... it also includes other photos from that day that have just been released...

a very tragic history...

That is a series of photographs that I am glad I never had the opportunity to take.

these are the types of photos that will have you hating yourself for admiring. they will both inspire you and make you wish you'd never seen them at the same time.

the main one is very much the essence of photojournalism: capturing in one single frame the sum total of an entire event in history.
