Alright, Diagonals was the 4th challenge I have entered on DPC and what do you know, 40th out of 345. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? Except I placed 40th out of 102 in the Year You Were Born challenge before that. (A considerably lower score, same place though). And the challenge before that I placed 38th out of 263...not 40, but it might as well have been.

Seeing as I was a huge art history buff in high school as soon as I see the number 40 I think of the use of the number in the bible as symbolism.

Just thought I'd try and find a quick summary of the number forty being used in the bible and I think it's very telling of my photography...that, or I have been proofing one session for 5 hours and need to go to bed.

We have no âone size fits allâ symbolic interpretation of the number, but in general it seems to occur in times of testing, probation, judgment, or separation.

The number connotes substantiality--whether in the passing of time or the measuring of events/things.

Okay, just thought it was ironic. Didn't really mean to write an essay on it.

Your scores will improve if you practice for forty days and forty nights. ;-)

Ha ha that's funny (interesting). I just turned 40 and I will be retiring from the Navy in 4 months (separation) thinking of doing something with photography when I get out so I joined Dpc to learn more (probation and judgement) and let me tell you I'm a single parent of a 6 year old boy so he tests me all the time but add that to my job and the impending changes to well just about everything and there you have it.

The fact that he's "6" probably doesn't help either. Not that I'm saying your son is the devil...I'm sure he's a doll ;) That's interesting about your little analysis, though. Funny how we can pull things from the past and make them relevant to our lives.

I'm such a history nerd!

Well since your such a history nerd you might find it interesting that I work on Ford Island in Hawaii and and see both the USS Arizona and the USS Missouri every day on my way to and from work and a few times more throughout the day. I'm sure you can deduce the significance of those two ships and day after tomorrow along with where I work. I've got a few shots here and there just for historical sake and thank goodness I did because some of the shots I took because I thought the building was cool were good timing because they tore it down only about a month later and all that's left is the foundation. I'll try to get them in my portfolio some time soon for you to check out.
