It's here! It's finally here! I got my new camera today, and I am SO excited! I've taken a bunch of pictures, but I had to keep deleting some and downgrading the quality to make them all fit on my dinky little 16mb card. Oh well, I'm just happy to have a new toy!

Also... I'm looking to sell my old camera soon. It's a Nikon Coolpix 4300, comes with a 16mb CF starter card, a 96mb CF card, and a card reader. Anyone interested in any or all of that? Does anyone have an extra XD card they'd like to sell (or give!) me?

:-)

Hi Lila, that's quite a fine camera. But coming from an "automatic" nikon, you might find the colours a little on the unsaturated side for photos taken with the camera. But the colour reproduction is quite accurate actually. I used the S5600Z (exact same camera as your S5200Z) and so I know.

You're right. I just uploaded my first set of pics and was pretty disappointed with the saturation. Is the only fix for that in Photoshop, or is there something I can do inside the camera?

If you want bright saturation, make sure that your camera is set to save pictures in sRGB format. Photos straight out of the camera in Adobe RGB mode usually look kind of flat. You can deal with that in Photoshop (et al.) as well.

Yup - that's the usual complaint from new users of the newer Finepix S-series of cameras. But if you compare to the actual subject, you'd notice that the colour reproduction is highly accurate, although it won't give you a good score in DPC :p Anyway, if you prefer high saturation and contrast straight out of the camera, change the film-type (the F-button) to "Fuji Chrome" mode. I hear it imitates the Fuji Velvia films of the old days or something, and produces punchy colours. I personally prefer adjustments on the computer so I havent got much experience with the Fuji-Chrome setting tho. Hope this helps.

Bump to see if anyone has an XD card to sell or give away!

Okay, a bump for the mid-morning crowd.
