I was in China for a week and a couple of days. I just got back home a few days ago.
This is the first photos from my trip, taken in the suburbs of shanghai, far away from all the tourist spots.
I would appreciate comments on the mood in the photos.

These are very nice, I really like them. Makes me want to go shoot China myself.
Only complaint would be that alot of the people are very dark, I know there is a mood you are going for with them but just a little detail would go a long way. Thanks for the post.

Thanks, it was really fun to spend whole days shooting intresting people, I shot over 22gb and about ten rolls of film. I hav'nt had the times to edit any shots yet, I just ran a couple of homemade actions (mainly gradient maps, desats and contrast) on theese to make them presentable.
cheers Viktor

Agree, all are very nice pics. The B/W seems to work nicely on these photos. I echo the previous commenter in that they seem to be just a bit under exposed. Try lightening them up a little for more detail. |

Very nice work! Thank you for sharing these, too. What lens did you use? |

I used the 50/1.8 on about three of them and the 100/2.8 macro usm on the rest.

I only brought my 50/1.8 with me to china, but I realised that it wasn't enough so I went to this mall by the railway station, The first two floors was burened out but the third floor was crammed with 50 small camera stores.
First I bought a tamron 28-75/2.8, but I wasn't happy with it. It seemed to soft at apartures larger then 8, so I went back the next the and the guy in the store let me exchange it for a 100/2.8 macro usm after I had agreed to pay the difference cash (about 1500rmb).
It's perfect for candids in a crowded street.

Very nice images, my favourite was the last one with the guy on the bike.

Some of them are quite good. You overdid it with pushing the contrast in several places, IMO. |
