I had my first officially paid photographic gig this weekend!
OK, I only got $50, but it's a start.
Maybe.
I've been going to my local SPCA once a week for the last two or three months and taking pictures of the cats and dogs that need adopting and putting them on various websites.
Obviously I do this voluntarily.
Well, last week, the woman in charge of the SPCA sent me an email telling me that they had lost their photographer for the "Celebrity Chili Cook-off" and would I be interested in doing it?
I agreed, shot 605 photos, got free beer and chili and a check for $50.
And apparently some of the picture were on a local TV station this morning and they said "these pictures were taken by Steven, a local photographer"
There weren't any "real" celebrities there, just local television people and the such.
But it can be looked at as a "foot in the door" I suppose.
Maybe they'll want me for other stuff?

Oh yeah, I also looked on my DPC prints site yesterday and found I'd sold six 6x4 prints of this image:

I have no idea who bought them, but thanks :-)

thanks.
The best thing was that I was walking around, taking pictures and thinking "I'm getting paid to do this" and I probably would have been doing it for my own pleasure anyway.
