Has anyone here ever dealt with this company? www.softwareking.com I'm looking at CS2 at their price of $369.49. Thanks!

Avast ye scurvy software pirates! Run away.

Anytime you see Photoshop for half its normal price, you can be certain that something is amiss.

I prob wont even look at that site but at that price its either an upgrade or is illegal warez, often if the price is to good to be true it prob is...

If it truely seems legit to you then it wouldnt hurt to fire an email to www.adobe.com to see if these guys are a credible reseller for Adobe products, they usually reply fairly quickly.

Thanks for the info, and the link for resellers! I called them, and at least was able to talk to someone on the other end which made me feel that it was possibly legit. They said it's a fully licensed, academic version with no restrictions....but maybe it's best for me to stay away and keep looking....

It may be the same software, but if anybody could buy it, then Adobe wouldn't sell a single copy of the "commercial" version for hundreds more. You can buy an educational version of PS for a substantial discount... IF you're a student (and it's not eligible for future upgrades).

LOL there ya go, its an ACADEMIC version which IF you actually receive the software and by some miracle the reg key is infact legit then you have to be a STUDENT or a TEACHER to legally use the software...

for the higher end softeware its allways best to obtain it from a reputeable source.

If you currently have PS 7/6/5 (and I forget what other version), you can upgrade directly from Adobe for around $170. If you don't have any of those, you can get the full version on EBay for around $60. I got PS 6 Full Verion for $65 shipped. So for less than $300, you'll have CS2. Cheaper than that 'store' you posted.

No offence to you MrEd but make sure the EULA says the licence is transferable and the previous owner of the licence has to contact adobe to properly transfer the licence, at least thats the way Adobe had it set up a couple years ago...

Also on another note alot of publishers will allow a transfer of a licence but with the limitation that it can not be upgraded to a newer version and if the user wants a newer version then they have to purchase the full version product at the normal retail price.

The version I bought was unopened and unregistered. It was still in the original shrinkwrap. I made sure of that before buying.

I did a search on Adobe's website and found that while you do have to be a student to get academic pricing, such software is eligible for upgrade pricing to the next full version.

I was refering to transfered licences, in MrEd's case his is a little different as his was never registered to he was for all purposes the "original" owner as far as adobe was concerned.

If you are buying software online make sure to do your homework and research the Co its self and see what other buyers experiences have been...
