OK... ok... ok.... I've been called and asked to do a shoot today, last minute substitution for a photog who can't make the engagement. I'll be shooting......

....ready for this.....

The high school band marching the local Christmas Parade! hehehee I think it sounds like fun! I have to do all of their group (section) shots and full-band too before the parade, then just happy shootin' during the parade. LOL

Oh yeah, and we'll be marking this one up as a "charitable contribution". :P

That's not puppy smell, Rob. It's human smell. ;)

I ever mention I hate volunteer work?!?! lol Nah, the band shoot (think high school marching-type) went okay today. I was shooting the large groups (sections) when the rain started, drizzle at first so I tucked my 2nd camera into my bag and sent one of the kids to tuck it under cover. Then the rain got harder. The band instructor who is a bad-templered single-minded nazi went right on taking enormous ammounts of time arranging band members, their instruments, their hats, their uniforms oh god it was taking ages.... I was now squatting down so that my body was covering the 30D/70-200 as best I could. I had a large cloth and kept that over the camera while I was shooting and draped over it when I wasn't. I finally had to tell the band director that this wasn't going to work, I couldn't keep my equipment in the rain any longer. So...... he (never saying a single word to me) started posing the remaining groups under tiny awnings. So good or bad, I got all of the shots they needed for the yearbook.
Then the parade started (remember I have 2 kids in band, one playing flute, one in colorguard), so I decide Hell, its just a few miles, I'll walk along with them (in 3" heels) & shoot the route. Well, about the time I got too far from my car to turn back.... it became a downpour!! Now I have the camera tucked way up under my umbrella to avoid the sideways wind getting it too wet. Once we were all soaked, nobody complained about the rain any more. The kids had fun, the people who'd come to watch had fun and yeah, I had a fun day! And yes, my feet hurt! :P

So, it rained on our parade... but I got the shots, had fun and the cameras are fine!! Yay! :)

It wasn't so bad - once I got over the terror that my equipment was going to be ruined lol

Great photos. I hope your equipment didn't get damage in the rain. BTW, isn't that yours in the front row, left, of the Band-Guard photo?

Luckily, the cameras were both fine, they got fairly damp, but never soaked... canon rulz! :P Yeah, that's Savanah in the 2nd shot. Poor kid, looks like mom, think she'll grow out of it?

That's why I wear two inch heels to parades.
