Only 1 week for submission? Not 1 month? This a mistake?

Submission: Nov. 1st - Nov. 7th

Probably. I wouldn't worry about it.

Woo whooo! I just submitted my first ever Free Study entry (FS XV).

I had no plans whatsoever to submit, but since it is almost the end of the month, I decided to peruse all my photos that I've taken in the past few weeks. I found one that could be worthy. So, I took out my favorite tools (Adobe Camera RAW and PS) and "went to town." We'll see!

Oh boy, I hope it does well! ;-)

I'm excited to see what comes up in this challenge. Free studies prove to contain some incredible works of photography!

Yes, it is often a very humbling experience when you see what everyone else produces.

The amount of entries seems much smaller this month, any guesses on how many entries will end up with 450-500? more less? I am actually entering this one. I picked my entry a couple weeks ago, but after looking at it for that long I don't like it as much, oh well.

I think that artistically and technically this month's free study went better for me. However, I would LOVE to have another crack at getting a picture that had the emotional quality of my submission for last month. I guess you can't just plan to capture a tender moment. It just happens. *sigh* Oh well. Best of luck everyone. I look forward to taking a LONG time going through the entries Friday morning.

I haven't decided if I'm going to enter it yet. If so, I would have to choose and edit a photo tonight...

I've entered a pic today that I had on my computer for a while. It's a catagory that's so NOT me and I've never really did this kind of photography.

I kinda got stuck in post-processing, did a lot, but not yet the result I really wanted. So, after the challenge, I'm gonna ask how this has to be done correctly...

i've not looked through my photos for the month to pick a shot out either... certainly didn't go out shooting specifically for the free study, but then, i've only done that once, anyway... mine have typically been a best of the month...

I entered mine fully understanding that it will probably score 5.something and get lost amongst a few humdred better photos - but I think it rocks.

Hmm, how much time do I have left?
Haven't shot a single photo the whole month. Only editing, editing, editing and some more editing. For me, for others*.... Argghhhh. But I am finished now** (15 minutes before midnight Dutch time).

So, I hope there will be a Dec Free Study. :)

* "I have this group photo and I want these two OUT of the photo". Okay, so I do that, takes some time, but the result looks great. Give it back, but...: "No, I meant that I want only these two out of the group. Errr, the others have to be erased..." Talk about miscommunication.
** And can start with a scanning and editing job for a book...

I had said at the beginning of the month time to let one pass. Let it go, you don't want to do this again. Well, guess what. I got a decent shot using a technique I have had much trouble with getting a good shot with. This time it came out really good. So I'm in. Lets see if I have somewhat mastered this thorn in my side. The score will tell all. Good luck to everyone, and may the best wo-man, er, ah, I mean photo, win.

I have always said that free studies are a wonderful way to try "something new". If you are a landscape photographer, do urban candids, for example. And for me personally, I am entering something new, part of a project this month that was a great learning experience. So I am truly interested in hearing the responses and comments. And I might even be so bold as predict a high score too...

I am expecting many dnmc comments for my entry in this challenge. That would be consistent with all the other dnmc comments I have rec'd on other challenges, irrespective of truth in fact. Seems like lots of members enjoy offering this kind of irritation, as there is no penalty, nor restraint, for harassing comments. I've been told the voter is always right and we should thank all who vote for our images. Good luck to all!

But Richard, that's impossible. There's no criteria!

Good luck!!

I had another entry but put in one I got later in the month. I can already hear some of the "this is distracting" or "blah blah... at the camera," but I really really like it and I've decided to just enter the ones I love. I did that in diagonal and you cannot believe the DNMC's. ha ha ha

Good luck. Cutter, can't wait to see yours. I'll show you mine if you show me yours. ;{p
