Heh. That is quite funny. Hopefully you would even not get banned.
I quite like the idea of leaving great comments and poor marks, or vice-versa. ;) |

How do you define daytime & nighttime?
As I would probably vote during your daytime I suppose I would be a looked at as a troll from your part of the world?
Or have I got something wrong here?

Are there REALLY Trolls or is it a figment of our collective imagination?
In the Perspective IV challenge there seem to be very few low scoring (1-3) votes in the top ten placings - including only one score of 1(for a work that also scored four 3's), and one score of 2. The remaining low scored works picked up just one vote of 3 each and 5 attracted no low scores at all.
If Troll activity was as rife as is often suggested I'd have expected to have seen far more 1's and 2's being banded about.
I didn't vote in this challenge but if I had there was one work that may well have attracted a borderline 3/4 from me - and I certainly don't consider myself a Troll.
Did all the Trolls just happen to take a rest for this challenge?
Maybe it's just a difference of opinion / appreciation and a reflection of the wide diversity of tastes that makes DPC such a colourful and engaging community to belong to :) rather than any concerted Troll activity.

I added DPC Trolls to the wikipedia site. Please go and add some more content. It is below Japanese Trolls under the title DPC Trolls?
These suckers are as real as elvis is alive.

Maybe somebody could post some a photo of the DPC troll or something.

I tell you boomtap has some serious pull to go on Wikipedia and put all that information for us on trolls. Quick question though if you are from the anthropomorph race from Scandinavia, where do these guys get access to a computer?!? |

I am guessing that they pull powere and DSL wires out from under the bridges and tap in there. |

That is true. I think most of them have been forced into big cities from extensive land development of troll wilderness areas. I am sure they could probably get cell signal... |

Which leads me to the conclusion, "DON'T DO DRUGS" and make sure you lock your wireless connections so no one can steal your wireless signal. That should take care of the troll problem. If not, then a sawed off shotgun should do the trick. |

Funny. Will you be inviting all the internet trolls over for a beer next? Why not add an annoying blinking graphic that says "Troll Voters Wanted at DPC--earn karma points by voting 1!"
;-p |

I didn't think of that, but with the longer and longer reach of 802.x tech, they might just hang out under local neighberhood bridges with palms... The low resolution screens on most pocket pc's might be why the images look so crappy and they give out 1's? |

I will do this on Myspace, where annoying blinking graphics and karma sell well. And yes, if I knew one I would have them over for a beer. I like beer, and trolls don't scare me much.

Your absolutely right. I mean have you ever tried watching a football game on a 10" B&W TV. It looks like a bunch of ants running for their lives from a big turd. It makes perfect sense now. Thank you boomtap. Your wisdom is beyond my comprehension. |

Anyone know who on DPC actually coined the term 'troll' in the first place and when? Have people been talking about this for years or is this a relatively new thing at DPC? (Relatively meaning within the past year or so) |

It goes back at least to april 5, 2002 when "iban" was temporarily banned for leaving troll-like comments. |

I have only been here for 5 months but it seemed like it was here long before I came. So my guess is years. I am hoping that some of the early settlers to DPC can fill us in on the troll so we can get wikipedia up to date on the origin of the troll voter. |
