Hey DPC family,

Can anyone suggest a good wide angle lens that I can use on my D70? I'd love to get the Nikon 12-24mm f/4G ED IF Autofocus DX Nikkor Zoom Lens, but I don't really have $900 in the budget right now to spend. Any other suggestions in a cheaper range that people have been happy with? I might just decide to wait until I can save up for the 12-24mm mentioned above, but I would still love to hear some suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

If you will never want to use it on a full frame camera, get the Tokina.

If you think you might, get the Sigma 12-24.

Ras I got the Tokina and I love it. It is my second favorite lens. But yeah the Nikon is the best, Tokina second best.

And don't forget the Sigma 10-20mm - the difference between 12 and 10mm is quite a bit. On the D70 it equates to 15-30mm which is really really wide. And it's a lot cheaper than the nikon. Of course it won't work on full frame cameras but I think a niknon FF is a long way away

I always forget about the Sigma. Good call.

I have the Canon version and I love it.

At the time I bought it, it was the only option for going that wide, but I've never felt that something else was enough of an improvement to justify selling it.
