I've been considering getting a flash since that seems like an affordable & portable light for the photo hobbyist. Together with a home made diffuser I was thinking it'd make for a nice extra for all those christmas parties coming up. I'm considering the FL-36 from Olympus, and my goals would be shots similar to these:

Although I'm fully proficient in good old photoshop being involved in the game art industry, I know there are some things it can fix :) So in your opinion, would I be going the right way adding the flash to my camera for such events & do you have any other tips? Many thanks in advance !

I would say get the flash. It not only helps in situations as you show but in almost every kind of shooting you may do. Another good flash for you might be the Sigma 500. It should have everything you need. I know a lot of people on this sight have one and rave about it. I personally have never used one abut have heard good things about it.

I don't think the Sigma is available for Olympus. |

| Was definitely worth the investment, was able to bounce it off a white ceiling which was c. 17-20 ft. above. Love this gizmo :) |
