I started this week with lots of fresh courage commenting on the photo's of the complementary colors challenge. My goal was to give a constructive critique to all of the members submissions this week.
I just commented my 12th image and till now it happened THREE times that I hit a score button after making a comment and that I land on the thumbnail-page (in stead of the next pic) loosing the comment I worked so hard on. I'm really fed up with this right now. Has anyone encountered that same problem? I can assure you that this 'bug' isn't very motivating.

Sorry that happened to you. Please don't let it put you off.
I'm not sure I'd call it a 'bug' since your the only one with the problem right now.
First did you go back and see if the comments are there now?
Secondly you can always drop an email to D&L under help/contact and let them know. Maybe it's something simple like your browser.

It sounds like your session is timing out.
The best remedy for this is to copy your comment to the clipboard before you hit the score button, that way if it does time out you haven't lost all your hard work, and you can simply go back to the photo and paste it back in.

Can you sessions time out? I've left DPChallenge up for hours at a time at work with no activity and hav never been timed out. Is there a setting somehwere to stop it from doing that?

I thought of that too. After my second 'flush down' I started copying my messages before hitting the button... well... if I thought about it at the time.. :) Thanks justine and bod.

Do you check the '[x] log me in next time' option when you log in? You may want to clear your DPChallenge cookies (there's a tutorial on doing so) and relogin.

The 'log-in' box was checked when I encountered the problem. I did notice that, when it occurred, I was re-logged in to the site ("logged in 1 minute ago").
I think I have the new cookies stored on my PC. But I will check that.
Thanks Drew

What browser are you using, marco?

You can open a new text window with your browser and compose the text there, then make sure you are logged-in and paste it into the comment box. You can also do something once in a while as you are writing, like using your Back and then Forward browser buttons to keep the session active.
Alternatively, you can write more concisely and type faster...
BTW- exactly the same thing happens when one runs on with these postings... |

I tend to write my comment in a notepad or MS Word window and copy paste it into the comment box when ready. Mainly because I also have experienced the same problem a number of times, though not as consistently as you are at the moment.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I'm gonna put myself back on track with these, and finish what I've started.

Is there really a "timed out" thing? I will start a comment, go and fix and eat dinner, then come back, finish the comment, and post with no problem. I'm talking sometimes like an hour or 2 later. Strange.

mine will time out after 30 min of not actually finishing the comment. This only happens when I am in the picture and in the middle of commenting on it. |
