At the House of Blues venues? I won free tickets to see Joan Jett tonight and I'm wondering if I should bring my camera or leave it home. I don't have tickets in hand, they will be at the will call window and couldn't find anything on their website.

I know the one in Tampa doesnt. So I would assume alot, if not all, dont allow cameras. Might try bringing your cell phone. Ha.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll just leave it home to be safe.

Almost certainly not I'd guess - it seems to be pretty much standard practice not to allow photography at music venues.
That's not the same as illegal however - if you can get it in and out past security there's nothing illegal about it - you'll just be breaking the terms of your 'contract' (ie the ticket) so they would have the right to escort you from the building. Usually they are willing to hold the camera for you till the performance is over if you're willing to take the risk.
I used to smuggle my camera in a hollowed out bread roll and the lens in a malt loaf (wrapped in cling film first) and then made out I'd hitched to the concert and this was my evening meal. Another good one is to put it at the bottom of your rucksack wrapped in grubby looking underwear - they usually wave you through before getting too intimate with your used clothing. :)

Call them up and ask. I went to a show last night at The Bowery Ballroom, called ahead to see if shooting was cool and they said I could take pictures but not with serious pro-like gear.

Made me think about buying a small, high end P&S or something

The thing is a don't have a DSLR, but it looks like one. It's about the same size and most people can't tell this difference. FWIW - I'll call and let you all know.

The one on Sunset in California doesn't allow it.

Interesting tip on the underwear I think I would prefer that to encasing my camera in food.
