One comment mentioned the lamppost. Was it a small enough element that I could have been okay cloning it out? I'm always paranoid about that, as my postcard entry also proves.

It's only my opinion but I'd say it would have been legal. Removing it doesn't change how you describe the photo. I'm not SC though ;) |

I would be worried about cloning those out too, even if I dreadfully wanted to. The rules about cloning out "distractions" is simply too subjective and unpredictable. |

I thought as nuzzer did, and felt as Crayon, hence I left it in, as everyone knows women go with their emotions over logic :) |

Lol, you mean like starting a pillowfight? :D
I guess I could always send a ticket, but I hate to bother them for something trivial :)

anything but THAT please!!! I have a wedding to shoot tomorrow.
anyway, about the cloning out of the lamppost, maybe you should submit a ticket and ask for "clarification of rules". I mean, while we all understand that these things are subjective from one photo to another, at least we can try to slowly grasp what's acceptable and what's not (they dont change SC very frequently so it's ok) |

It's good (I'm a newbie rank) coz I think I won't even know something was cloned out if I haven't seen the original. Nice work! |

Very nice cloning work ontop of an already excellent picture. I am not sure how much it would have changed my vote since the lamp post wasnt a major part of the image and it didnt stick out like as or thumb or anything. I do believe it would have passed the SC as well.
And always keep in mind that SC usually gets back pretty quick when you send them a question like this. I sent in these two images combined as one to SC to see if what I cloned out was legal and within 24 hours I had my answer and was good to go.

Thanks Tim :D
I just need to be a little bolder in my decisions. Hey, the worst they can do is give me a DQ, right? :)
Btw... I LOVE the lion!

I am but one opinion, but it would have been okay (assuming it was advanced editing of course). |

There is no more "major element" rule, and I doubt the post would have changes someone's "description of the photo". sooo... I think you'd have been fine.
use ANY editing tool to move, remove or duplicate any element of your photograph that would change a typical viewer̢۪s description of the photograph (aside from color or crop)...
