1) this one destroys all of my northern lights fotos (yes, itâs only appearing in the northern lights, exactly in the middle of the fotos)
anyone knows, what the heck that is, maybe some signs of extraterrestical life? Lol
original
100% crop
2) the 2nd one is not that bad, but also weird. Itâs coming up in all long exposures and itâs an error called âjob nrâ. You have to turn off the camera in order to close the aperture, then turn it on in order to save the photo. I asked this yesterday in a different thread and got this answer:
"A Nikon DSLR, will save a true raw image if the camera detects a low voltage condition in the internal battery during the 'Job NR' phase of
the in camera noise reduction.[...]
"
anyone knows or has a suggestion, how to fix that? |

I think its a UFO force field...they usually transmit a radio signal that has this effect...you have been fortunate enough to capture this and I would take these images to the authorities...just watch who you speak to, because they migh interrogate you. You could call MIB... :-)
That looks like a real problem that needs to be seen to by a Nikon technician. The D200 had vertical banding similar to this in the early days, so maybe this is a prob with the D50???

a UFO force field? ok, then i'll get a lawyer to sue E.T. for destroying my northern light fotos! thx hotpasta ;)
to the 2nd one: is it really a prob of the d50 only? *dig at all d50 users out there*
oh and i got another one:
the merge to hdr always breaks off with the following:
"could not complete the merge to hdr command, beacause a command was not available"
any help would be awesome :)

Job NR is the built-in Noise Reduction software for long exposures. What it does is takes just as long as your exposure to clean up things like hot pixels and some of the the noise in the photo. Although some say you don't need it on ( Bear_Music), and some say you do terje, I'll leave it to you to say who's right :). So if you take a photo for 2 min, you have to wait another 2 min while Job NR is working. You can turn it off in the menus.
As for the circles, do you have a filter on your lens, I get weird circles like that, although with more color when shooting through airplanes/Bart(Bay Area public train system) windows with the CPL on. Hope that helps.

thx joe! the strange thing is, that the job nr error also appears, when i turned the noise reduction off, or is it a noise reduction independent of the noise reduction, that you can adjust incamera?
and yes i have a uv-filter on my lens, i'll check it out without the filter, just have to wait for some northern lights now...;)
any suggestions on the hdr problem anyone? |

The job NR really isn't an error message, and it shouldn't be on at all if you have it turned off, hmmm. I can't do HDR with a single exposure, it baffles me. I saved for web different exposures from, it asks me to to set the exposures manually and I do and the photos come out all really dark. All wait and see if some can help me out. Also the shutter speed says something like 6e^-5 which would be awesome but as it is nearly an instantaneous exposure is obviously wrong.

thx again guys, i could fix both problems at once: the first one, as jdannels mentioned, was caused by the filter, i screwed it off, took a photo of some northern lights this night, and voila, the alien signs were gone!
the 2nd one:

man you're right! turned off the noise reduction, job nr is gone, otherwise it takes 30 sec after a 30 sec exposure, 10 sec after a 10 sec exposure and so on. i should better turn it off on a 2hours exposure so...;)
if i could only figure out the photoshopish hdr prob...
