Okay, I've picked out the new camera I want (A Fuji Finepix S7000)... now where's a good place to buy it? Do you think it's okay to buy a used one from Ebay? I'm kind of sensitive about other people's germs being on the stuff they sell, but maybe it would be okay. I'm also worried about how much wear-and-tear it would have. And what about refurbished cameras? I'd really like a new one, but I can't afford anything more than about $250, and I can't find any stores locally that carry that camera, since it's a bit older.

What do you all suggest?

Pricegrabber/Froogle/Ebay/
441 DPCers own that camera.
Maybe PM one of them to see where they bought it.
Good luck. Squishy >love the name!

Froogle, huh? Fun name! I've never heard of that one. I just checked there, and there isn't one that's less than $300.

Maybe a DPCer will be generous and sell me one they have! ;-)

I just checked DPC's link to Pricegrabber, only 1 seller there with one and it's REFURBISHED for $339. Nothing on KEH or Fred Miranda either. Wish I could help more, good luck.

Are the used and refurbished ones any good?

And please note, my budget stops at $250. Maybe I need to reconsider cameras???

It does look as if the camera is beyond your budget. I guess you could buy used/reconditioned, if you can find some place that you trust, otherwise it's going to be a bit hit-or-miss as to whether you end up with something that's a bit flakey.

Maybe you should save up and wait a bit. Christmas is coming...anyone send you money for Christmas?

Not generally. But maybe I'll wait and see what else I can find.

What are your opinions on the Canon Powershot S3?? It's been recommended by my brother-in-law. It's a bit more than I wanted to spend (though it is cheaper than the Fuji), but I am still looking around for some deals, especially since it's Christmas time now!

Inspite of my adventures with one of their computer repair centers, I'd recommend Circuit City AND getting the expanded warranty. This is the first time I've ever had a problem, and I've never had a problem with the local store.

I would definitely do Ebay, but do it carefully. I've done many transactions there both as a buyer and a seller and have had very few problems. Good luck!

I've read some reviews about the Canon Powershot S3 that aren't too kind. what's your experience with them?

if you didn't already purchase it, try amazon. they'll usually give you some reputable store to buy it at.

check your local yellow pages or whatever buisness listings.

I always prefer to buy from someone face to face, that's just me.
