That is just an option you can use, not a built-in feature that you can't turn off.

Huh? What feature? What option? I was saying that it's hard to change ISO settings quickly when in manual mode which is vital for gig photography.

Oh.. I entirely read that wrong.. I thought you meant you thought auto-ISO was built-in and unchangeable ;D

I was in the camera store yesterday buying a new filter. I asked the salesman about the K10D. He couldn't give an exact release date other than end of October, but said the body-only price is 119,800 YEN. ($US1000, $AUD1357, GPD542)
But with my membership points plus trade-in, I'm sure I'll be able to get it for less than 100,000 YEN.

I wonder if I should just order one or wait until it comes out?

I popped into a small camera shop yesterday. The salesman said the release date is the 30th. That's a Monday. Who has time for camera shopping on a Monday?

I've actually had a pre-release model in my hands at a local camera show last week, though I didn't try it out, just asked a few questions. Can't say I understand dSLRs well enough to judge it, but I found it quite large and heavy for my small hands. Still, I'm going to have to move up eventually and it seems to offer a lot that the smaller lighter cameras don't, so I'll likely be buying one in the near future. I'm not making any rushed decisions, though. I'll be waiting for the reviews before I make any commitment.

Oh, no.... I just checked the Japanese Pentax site. The latest announcement is that the release date is now put back to 30th November... :-(

Anyone get their hands on one yet?

No, but I have mine on order. And I've downloaded the user manual already (knowing that I'll get the manual in Japanese, though I did ask for one in English if possible).

I have to say, I'm really excited about jumping on the Pentax boat. They seem to have a vast collection of quality glass, and a refreshing approach that puts as much as possible into their cameras for the benefit of the photographer, and dont charge an arm and a leg for it. Hopefully I wont be let down by my decision...

I can't wait to get mine!

Also worth looking at is the Samsung GX10 - which is a Pentax K10D but with some changes on the inside. Both are able to capture in 22-bit mode, the one difference is that the K10D allows a lot of post-capture editing of RAW files while the Samsung does not. Will be interesting to see what the price difference is when the Samsung comes out. Pentax K10D is priced at £599 body only or £699 with 18-55 lens. The Pentax looks a very interesting camera.

I dont think the Samsung will be using the Pentax mount, will it? One of the big pluses of the Pentax is the fact that you can use any pentax lens on it.

Not certain, the Samsung uses D-Xenon lenses, Pentax uses KAF2 bayonet mount. Maybe someone can shed some light on this?
