I never meant that people would/should post other people's images for the sake of tearing them apart - but if like here today with Doll Lady, a conversation starts about another photographer's work, that should be allowed / encouraged for the sake of learning - not to be hateful.

Awesome, Rina! So far its fledgling, but fun. I like the interface. Let me know if you see something that doesn't work for you. :D

I'll be getting help with the upgrades, so they might take a bit of time.

when I hear the word craptography I straight away think of the utter shite that adorns the walls of my local doctors waiting room - I have no idea who took them or why they decided to take a dump on some 8x10's and frame it but they did and it is some of the most out of focus poorly composed booring landscape photos I have ever seen. Only silghtly better is the stuff in one of the local Cafe's, not much but at least it has nice frames.

There's some corprate buyer here that picks the most awful stuff for this building. Theres a whole set that I walk by of 15 or so pictures of some dude taking a plane ride from end to end, all shot out of the window of the plane. It so sucks.

Loads and loads of photos.
Your senses will go nutty.
How much do you have to see before you quit the... crap.
Like having a week old burrito from a dumpster.

For comments:
Sometimes it hurts.
We'll beat the crap right out of ya!
The tums to your indigestion.

Yea. I'm getting way too gross on these. It's just too fun!

Our photographs are just a crap shoot.

And Cindi, I immediately thought crazy doll lady too... now THAT'S gotta be the epitome of craptography!

You could test it here on DPC with a thread called "Abuse My Photo" and ask people to leave the most condescending comment possible on one of your shots :)

Isn't that what already happens when you enter one of the challenges? :)

LOL I don't think 'comment smackdown' is the right tone. But think about it, if someone tells you "This is a work of art!"... you will be more reserved with your opinion, if nothing else to save their feelings than if they said "This is crap". Then you are free to say - no, I think its good; or - yeah, you're right. Either way you - the commentor - feel good about your contribution and the author has something to work with too. IMO its way better than the atta-boy approach.

Isn't it amazing that we have to begin by stating that what we are offering is crap in order to remove the political correctness before it begins :)

The site looks good by the way. I think the tone you are going for is already happening in there. You never know you might just start a revolution.

Yep, agree. Members will be submitting photos that, by their own admission, are crap. I think so long as the roastings are all in the spirit of laughing at ourselves (or rather, the craptography), then I'm certain everything will run fairly smoothly for you.

I think the answer should be, "Yes."

lol

Yeah, me too! :)

I'd hope the intent is for people to post their own photos.

To invite people to put others' photos up for ridicule just seems mean-spirited.

~Terry

That's exactly what I was trying to gently insinuate. I think it's a REALLY bad idea to pluck work by others and post it as "crap", it's just... yeah, "mean-spirited"...

How about "Robotphotographer" for all rip off photographers with a $2000 camera; or

"Artlessphotography.com" for all the studio hacks, the wedding and portrait photographers that may have high scores but are the equivalent of house painters as compared to fine artists?

or finally, "superproficientlymundane.com" for the dpc formula masters.

sound stupid and petty?

Don't be so quick to call something crap, even when self depricating, it sticks to a lot of shoes.

I just finished the first of a zillion site upgrades. Please have a look! :d Remember I suck at this, everything is template based in some way.
