Has anyone ever tried this? I'm not in a position to do it myself, but was checking it out since I just bought one for my Chilean goddaughter for Christmas. It was hands down my favorite toy as a kid.
Just about everything I found calls for actual film, except for this one.

Wonder if inkjet transparency film (the kind used for overhead projectors) will work? IIRC, viewmaster photos are very small, but there used to be some other sort of stero viewer (sterioptican?) that usee a pair of about 1.5" x 2" images. |

Looks like it would be fun to try but also looks like a bit of work. |

Looks like Charles's technique relies on a special-purpose film punch as well. He does not reference a source, and I expect that this would not be a really cheap item.
It would be fun to do this; I also had loads of fun with the Viewmaster when I was a kid, and we still have one around the house somewhere.
I've seen a stereo viewer that takes two 35mm slides; it belonged to an engineer at Northrop Grumman. It was relatively ancient, I'm guessing 1950s. |
