...a man of constant sorrow.

Drawn to tears from the tinyest things. From good, to bad. From life and death. From extreme to average. From the world around me, to the family around me. From art, to crap.

My tears run free. Escaping the pools where they are kept.

But, I am a man. A nice man. An average man. But, just a man. A 45 year old man.

The tears are humbling, mostly. They are from fear sometimes. They are from good will to others all the time.

I cry today. A silly thing actually. A movie I have seen over a billion times. I can tell you the storyline in my sleep.

"The Cowboys". A John Wayne movie. Yes, he gets killed twords the end of the movie.

I cried not for the death of the charactor, but the instant maturity of the "cowboys" and the situation that they were put into.

I thought, "gee, I hope my boy matures like these charactors did.". Melencoly (sp) took over, and tears started to flow.

Can anyone explain this outburst of emotion?

I've stopped crying now.
I realize it doesn't do anything.

I've been more emotional than usual lately, a good Target commercial will bring me to tears... and no I'm not pregnant! Its nice sometimes though, when a really good movie just gets ya. After, you kinda laugh and think what was so touching?, but it's the moment. It rocks.

Does anyone remember, "Snoopy Come Home" the tv special from the late 70's/early80s? Man, that made me cry every time. My mom used to say "You know he's going to come home" but I still cried.
I recently bawled my eyes out at King Kong(the new one) and not just because it was so long!:)
I think anything to do with animals or creatures (E.T and the like) being sad or distressed makes me upset.
Crying can indeed be very theraputic. Let it flow, I say!

I saw a screening of "Happy Feet" this past weekend and for some strange reason I got teary-eyed too in a couple parts too. You're not alone Mr. Horse, some things have strange emtional effects on us.

Is your son growing up too fast? Are you becoming aware that the baby he once was is gone...do you find time moving too quickly?

i wear my emotions on my sleeve most of the time so i'm used to outbursts. it's nice, in a way, because i don't hold anything back or keep things bottled up. some people don't understand it, though, and it's driven more than a few "friends" away.

I say hold it all in. Challenge yourself - see how much you can take. Then unleash a torrent of dramatic and extreme emotion. Be sure to get some photos or video. ;-)

Seriously though - my diagnosis is that it's a midlife thing. I'm there, too. Lots of thoughts of wondering how your life got to this place and how it got stuck on auto-pilot and how can you jump off this merry-go-round and how did your kid seem to age 10 years in what seemed like the few moments you had your back turned.

I watched "Click" (Adam Sandler and Christopher "Maw Cowbell" Walken) and thought it was going to be a typical entertaining Sandler comedy. Although it was somewhat formulaic, it did a good job of ripping your heart out. Maybe just me though.

Find someone to talk to A.H. - and back off the alkeehawl a bit - it doesn't help. ...much. ...for very long. ;-)

hey, I agree, that movie was really touching. Especially the part about his neglected father. Almost got a tear out of me...

sorry for the "hijack" but I really got to clarify this up.
Ken you are wrong! I'm not made of wax. I'm an octopus (decided recently) :)

I am almost afraid to watch "The Dirty Dozen".

Like the scene in the movie "Lost in Seattle", when the guys start giving grief on 'chick flicks'. When they start to pretend to get teary eyed when talking about "The Dirty Dozen", the ending of that movie, how it made the charactors start to cry when Jim Brown got mowed down by some nazi.

I'm afraid of just doing that.

I like to think it means you're not afraid to let things in this world touch you--really touch you. We spend so much of our lives trying to shut out this and that, because we have to. But I think it means something when you can take it in and find a meaningful connection or ponderance.
